The "Whatever" Thread

I’m actually doing a French Trade Knife in December for another customer.

Very cool, we'll have to see how those pictures come out when you finish it. I remember one other guy posting up about one a month or so ago. Seems there's a little interest in them lately.

Can you tell us the parameters of the one being made in December? Blade length and thickness? Like Bikerector mentioned, there seems to be some interest in the French trade knife pattern, maybe for a re-enactor or as a kitchen knife.

bikerector bikerector , I actually have a smaller Jeff White English trade knife wih a 5 inch handle. I will try to get some pics of it and the slicer.

Sorry for the inactivity on the forum life has just been happening a lot and pretty often here recently between work, flat tires, emergency dentist runs, Leaking radiator, and today my phone essentially stopped working. It can do everything but call/receive calls from people so that’s gotta be replaced tomorrow. It’s even not sending text messages sometimes, but I can do every other function perfectly fine.I think it’s kinda ironic how a phone can do everything but communicate to people through phone call or txt.

And very excited to see the French trade style knife your doing. It’s always been one of my favorite historical knife patterns for outdoor use! Also can’t wait to see and use the straight back hunter!

John you got any pics of that pukko type knife you did in tiger maple with red liners it was for sale jan 2018

Hope fully he can point out all them snakes. When ideas in ne ga I was wondering if I could train a dog to smell for them. Because I ran into them every few miles at work.

Who all pumps iron? I go from traditional lifting for a few months then just running and body weight exercises. I'm back in another lifting cycle did a 2 hour leg work out yesterday and am paying for it today. Tomorrow will be worse for sure. I have shoulders, traps and neck tonight. Gotta grow up to be big and strong. I've also taken in a few thousand good calories this morning. My wife hates our food bill!!

I used to lift and considered getting back into it after nearly a decade off. I got tired of it by the end of college and only did it for another year or so after graduation. I used to do a little running and high energy circuit training with a lot of olympic style lifts and jump roping. I suppose it was probably about like crossfit before that blew up.

Now, I just ride bikes a lot, hike a bit, and smash up dead trees around the woods most for workouts. I got a standup desk at work and I plan to either start filling a backpack with weights or get a weighted vest to start getting a little more strength in the body that way. Really, since I started working after college, a big part of my workout is to get the heck away from the indoors, so that's the biggest reason I grew tired of seeing a gym. I didn't mind the kind of strength I had at the time though. Finding jeans to fit was always a bother.

Two days a week full body circuit training, usually 5 x 5 format, all compound movements. Two days a week at the climbing gym. Two days a week trail hike/run.

5x5 is a ruff work out. I used to do those when I did strong man events. We had a theory if you could do that with 315 on a bench you could man handle one of those old chocolate brown refrigerators
