The "Whatever" Thread

I don’t see any problem with it, I have 3/32 in O1, 154CM, and S30V.
I know the 3/32's is pretty tough, just wondering if there is advantage of 1/8". I know you can do a higher sabre grind on the 1/8".

That’s the only advantage, but I only offer O1 in 1/8”. I’m not planning on ordering any stainless because instead of .125 it always measures .150, plus there’s not enough demand to buy any.

I should have mentioned that I do have a small amount of .150 stainless on hand, which ends up a little thinner after the scale is ground off.

Is the steel 154 cm? I lose track over time of what you may have. Is blade length limited to size of what you have left? Just playing with the idea of a stainless Kephart with a 4.5 to 5 inch blade, osage handle. I know this would be for after the new year. still working on UNcle Timbo to save up for one of yours......he has been busy.

In Kephart size stainless I have 154CM, in oversized 1/8” and 3/32”, for smaller knives I have 154CM and S30V. The osage I have is only 1/4” thick, kind of thin for a Kephart, but I could always add 1/8” thick black micarta liners.

A twig mangler in stainless with thick blue liners osage scales and some sweet mosaic and brass pins. would look mighty fancy on one's belt when bumming around the woods in the rain or snow.

John, how do you like the edge characteristics of 154 cm?

First snow of the year is a strong one. There was only an inch or so this morning and no sign of letting up anytime soon!

I'm jealous, Jeff.
it was sunny and 70 here Saturday.
this morning it was around 18 before the wind chill.
by 10, it was up to 21 with a wind chill of 5.
currently 25/9 with the wind down to 33 from the 45 we spent most of the morning listening to.
we only got 1" of snow

supposed to be single digits in the morning not counting the wind -- not looking forward to that, may have to wear a jacket.
