thanks Myke. what a cool day i had today. my gf's dad took me out in the marsh, through lakes, bayou, etc. he has been runnin these waters since he was a knee-high. we checked one of his buddy's trotlines. there was a big catfish on one line, that i got pulled out of the water, but we had to put him back down. the wind was rough, and we just couldn't safely position ourselves to get the work done. we may try again tomorrow.

but, i've never seen anything quite like i did today. the maze of waterways, the "camps" way back in some of the canals, gators, etc. pretty wild, and a day i won't soon forget.

the swamps in LA are awesome. I loved going through them when I was stationed at ft polk. made for some awesome weekends for sure.

is this an apropriate place to whine becuse you missed an auction because you mis calculated the auction time and got outbid ona knife you've been looking for ...fr years and the only other time you've seen one teh same kinda thing happened?

I've been real good laterly, cleaning out unused favorites and generally not going knife crazy, so maybe I shouldn't have bought it anyway, gruff (that's me making a disgruntled sound FYI)

anyway, only thing worse is hearing myself whine about it

anyone care to join in in a self pitying drink?

in other news (while i'm whining) my courses aren't filling up like I need them to for the summer, I may be working at the local cafe soon to make up for it, out air conditioning just needed a new thermostat, my wifes rotors need replacing and my right foot has cramped/torn/something up so I'm having to lay of the running for a while....then again i have a Jk order in the works so...life ain't so bad really ;)

things always seem to go haywire at the start of spring, or is that just me?

I was slightly overdressed when i walked out the front door carrying a chainsaw this morning - and somewhat under-dressed when I came back in 2 hours later.
Temp dropped 10 degrees, wind picked up and it started to mist -- but we didn't get any rain. Tomorrow I suspect I'll hurt, since I couldn't get the smaller saw running and had to do all the cutting with the Husky 372 w/32" bar. (and used all of the bar on a couple of cuts! )

What were you cutting? Tree service? I work for a private tree service and use Stihl saws. (210 360 660 ect.) Never really liked huskys much, but haven't really had an opportunity to put one to the test.

KY, what was the knife you missed, if I may ask??

Walked in the same woods over and over for years but this time took a walk where I knew there surly wasnt any shrooms, and sure enough. WHAMMO.

good score!

and, i am also curious to hear what knife you missed Pete. sorry that you're havin' a tough time of it. cheers!

I will drink with you Peter!:D

Nice score Joel!

We have had a freakin' bumper crop for morels this year. Picked probably two or three pounds of fresh ones this morning, and left probably half that many behind that were too far gone. Going to fry them up this weekend at my brother's graduation party.

thanks Cooper, appreciate it :) good luck with those 'shrooms, although it sounds like you've already had it :)

FYI: knife was nothing overly interesting to most, just a certain breed of electricians knife from back when,
