The "Whatever" Thread

I hope all is well! Things are still "interesting" for me! After being off work for 15 months on work comp I'm close to being able to setting the case and get back to work. So of course, after two years of ducking it I got Covid last week. I started getting chills Tues night and on Weds got a group text from my AD&D group that one of the guys has covid, four of 'em got tested and all four were positive. So I got tested, also positive. All six of us are vaccinated and boosted so fortunately no one has gotten very ill. In fact, I'm very close to being symptom-free by today, Friday the 15th. Hopefully by early next week I will have no trace of the virus (got a stack of covid tests here at home).

Figures, doesn't it?? It seems like a lot of folks around my family and i have been hit in the last month or so - no serious side effects, but positive tests. We have been symptom free, but my wife and I gave considered testing to see whether we've had it and just did not realize. Crazy times continue!

Hope you have an easy run, and glad to hear you're about healed!

My oldest son moved closer to home the first of July. A group of family and friends pitched in to help. One of the people helping tested positive July 3rd. My son, his wife, and their baby girl tested positive over the next couple days. My wife, youngest son, and I quarantined the recommended 5 days. On day 6 my wife who is fully vaccinated began to show symptoms and tested positive. A few days later my youngest son tested positive. I tested several times and it was negative.
Almost everyone is back to normal now except for my oldest son who still has a nagging cough from time to time.

One thing that bothers me the most about our situation is the established quarantine time. According to the guidelines my wife being vaccinated with a booster didn't need to quarantine but she stayed in with me. We were clear to go out into public on Friday but didn't. Saturday the day after we were clear to return to normal is when she started to show symptoms. How many people would she have passed it on to if she had not quarantined?

About the only people I know that haven't got it yet are vaccinated but luckily no one I know that was vaccinated got very sick.
We were on vacation last week with family. Sitting by the pool one day I looked around and realized out of the 13 people there I was the only one who had never tested positive. The group was a mix of never vaccinated to fully vaccinated with booster.
I told my wife I think a diet that contains lots of barley, hops, corn, and rye could be a good preventative measure

Sounds like a good diet. 👍😉

I miss drinking, haven’t had any alcohol in almost a year, and haven’t smoked in three months.
Congrats John! I know a few guys who gave up drinking and smoking. They say smoking was much more difficult to give up. I've got one friend who quit smoking many years ago who says there are still times he gets the feeling of needing a smoke.
