The "Whatever" Thread

Going to be a crazy week! Connie is going to Angie`s for the weekend again, they move to Florida next Friday. Starting on Monday, Target is doing some minor remodeling, so Connie`s team will be starting at 2 am to get things moved before the builders come in each day. That means we will be getting up at 12:45 am each day. At least it`s only for one week.

My son is doing research this summer at Virginia Tech and this will be his first summer not at home. Luckily he's not too far away and will be coming home this weekend. Hopefully we'll get in some time on the river and share a cold beer while catching fish on popping bugs.

Reminds me of an old MOnty Python skit...the one where they say, "...you were luck. we used to live in a cardboard box..." Anyway, there was a line in there saying something like, "...we used to get up half an hour before we went to bed...."

as a dad to a college student, i can relate. it's tough. BUT...sounds like exciting times for your boy. you must be a proud papa.

It`s always tough when a child goes away to college. When Alison went to Western Illinois University, it was 220 miles away. Even so, once a month I would drive there, spend the day, then drive back home that evening.

Here's hoping the move to FLA goes smoothly.

Thanks, I am extremely proud of him. The work he's doing has something to do with a computer system that may be used by a branch of the military. He could have graduated this spring but said there were classes he wanted to take. I told him it would be better to stay another year now then try to return to school once he starts a job. He'll have a degree in computer science and a degree in math next year, although what he calls math looks nothing like the algebra I took in high school.

If you only knew:D His mother is a school teacher. We split up when he was very young but settled on joint custody. I helped with most of his projects but one time she helped with a research paper. It was the first C- he ever received. He was always an honor roll student but never all A's. I asked him why and he told me only nerds made straight A's.

lol. that's funny. and, that is the proof that he really is a smart kid. he was smart enough to know what he had to do and what he didn't. plus, he was aware of his surroundings. ;)

in other news, I think we have a new family member.
Local rescue loaned him to us for a weekend test drive.
so far he lays around, drools, and pants a lot -- just like the other 2 dogs, so I think he'll fit in fine.
