Theoretically Speaking...(maybe not?) Which Becker do you choose for Zombies??

No, that's vampires.
Man, what has it come to when people put falsities into a serious thread about zombies?;)

Obviously, you have never seen many zombie movies. In the morning, they are all gone, therefore, the must dissolve in sunlight. :D

Serious vampire fact,

A bonus to the Moose plan is it is very hard to sneak up on a boat in open water. I don't like the idea of having to be at the mercy of what is on shore when supplies are running low. Also gas will become an issue very quickly. Personally I am going to win the lottery and build an elevated automated biodome haha.

Actually we live in a small town but if the dead rise, we are going to join up with family at a very rural location with house, farmland, and fresh water. Not much but might buy us a little more time.

did you see the season finale of walking dead? same scene, awful results...it did buy a little more time, but that's about it....

Just be wary of fire. Open water is nice, but if your boat catches fire, you don't have any place to go, except the water, where, you won't last long. Every man that's been in the Navy, will tell you, they are ALL firemen onboard.

Its really the only downside, so, given the chance to sleep in a tent, on an open meadow, with nothing but my BKT's and guns, or hang out on a ship, floating off shore, making excursions inland for supplies, sounds a might better to me.

I think if the dead rise, and start eating people, Pirates of the open water would be the least on the Coasties or Navy's mind. You gotta think, in utter chaos and turmoil, enforcement of man's laws will be low on the totem pole. Those that will be trying to enforce it, will be probably gone quick.

Law of the jungle, don't get eaten would be the only law in effect. Hence the marauders, and their desire to obtain by force, that which they do not have. Food, fuel, water and women, are all on the list. Not to mention ammo and guns, and some other niceties that you might have, that they want. You gotta be willing to keep it at all costs, because they will try to take it at all costs.

If you think the LEO's, National Guard, Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy or Coasties are gonna be there to back you up, might wanna think again.

Same rules apply to a zombie outbreak as for a fire on your back, the only thing you are concerned with, is putting the flames out. The hero's will die first. Its just that simple.

Moose

I get what your saying, I was just thinking the seaborne troops would be less likely to be exposed to an outbreak/disaster and if they were smart would stick to patrolling the water and the shoreline, for survivors.
There is a Facebook app or something that checks how long you would survive based on how you answered questions. I am smart enough to not be a hero, but I am also smart enough to know that there is strength in numbers when the shtf.
20 marauding looters/rapers will run roughshod over 5 people, but will think twice about going after a group just as large or larger than they are, if the grp looks like it can handle itself. Bullies always go for the small kid you know.
Desperate enough people wouldn't care, but the scum that form up to loot and rape and murder, they all generally tend to be cut from the same cloth.

By the way I LOVE zombie scenario !

My plan is fortify to sit out the initial outbreak and deaths, when the chaos drops to the speed that it will be maintaining for a while, that's when you move and get to somewhere that you can stay for the duration.
Find like minded, fast moving smart people, who had the sense to get equipped because more weapons and more people to take watch is a good thing as long as you stay small enough to really move.
Only take risks that have large enough potential pay offs to balance the risk.
Never think your safe, because your not, never let your guard down, never take your eyes off your kids. never check the body... let me repeat, never ever walk up to check the body or the groaning person whose face you cant see.
Get somewhere with a low per capita population because the problem would have been much slower and much less there. Less people to spread it, more space to run and to hide. In the end its also less walkers to worry about cleaning up to make the place more secure. Fortify where ever you are and make as many different escape routs as are possible because you never know which ones will be available. Always be ready to move. and have multiple locations fortified so you can fall back to an alternate safe house. Never NEVER EVER have sex in the woods, and avoid getting naked ! Get used to having no privacy, because calls of nature, the rare bath/shower, sex, anything you can think of that was private before is gonna be public now because you NEED people around to cover you. Recognize that someone is going to have to step up and lead and people are going to have to step up and follow. Morality is critical, but Political correctness, and bleeding heart sentimentality will get everyone killed. If someone in your group is a real threat to the safety of the group, depending on the nature of their threat, leave them behind or execute them. The last thing you need is someone inside the group causing chaos and death amongst your ranks. As Spock said, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." If you can find the right balance of hard ass without becoming an animal, then you win, because if you only survive by being an animal then whats the point?

I'd have to go with an RBK to get me to this (ready to roll with SEAL team intact):

Did anyone else notice that everyone on board was facing forward, but the boat was moving aft? They might be Zombies in disguise -- with miniguns!!!

I saw Zombieland. When this shtf, as long as I have Emma Stone, I'm good to go.

Sweet jeebus, zombie's with miniguns.

Well, there goes what little bit of sleep I get a night. I always worried about when they started driving cars, that's when I would break out the RBK, that thing don't screw around.

Now, I gotta come up with something for car driving zombies with miniguns.

Thanks, K9, my sleep doctor thanks you. :grumpy:

I'm going to breed a flock of turkey vultures as my zombie defense.

What happens after they feed on infected flesh? You got a flock of zombie turkey vultures, that's what.

You thought zombies on the foot was bad, wait until they start falling from the sky......

damn, there goes more sleep......

:D

Scout's a certified Cadaver Dog, so we're used to being around decaying human flesh. Don't think he's seen it move yet, though. At least I hope not...

My top choice for smiting the undead is my CS Warhammer. I love this thing and I love smashing stuff with it.

But I wouldn't want to face the Zombie Apockaplypse without my BK-5, Bk-15, and BK-11.

Damn.

If animals are going to be susceptible too, I'm just going to go buy some bath salts now and get this over with. :D

And what could be worse than zombie buzzards? Zombie insects.

You can't defend against undead flies or spiders or mosquitoes biting you while you sleep.

I have a nice spot already supplied out with only a few people anywhere around that might need depopulating. 6 months out of the year it's 3-6 feet of snow. Zombiesickles! Something to baton through during the boring winter months.
Actually with the infection rate unless you wanted to be an eskimo there wouldn't be much hope. I would probably just wander around blowing shit up for funsies.

don't you know there's nothing to eat but meat up above the frost line?
