About a month ago I had a bad trade. The culprit agrees that he received my knife, but I never got his (he "forgot" to get delivery confirmation, and was thoroughly unresponsive in general). I posted a lengthy negative review on his file, and Esav siggested that that was enough. I figured to forget about it.

But since then I have seen him trading frequently. Even more maddening, he is offerring for trade the knife that he ripped off from me.

Is there anything I can do, according to the rules, about this? Can I contact prospective traders by pm to alert them, or post messages on the threads where he has made subsequent offers? And are these allowed under the rules, or would I be dinged for unfair behavior (which I don't want. Some of us play fair)? Or do I just stew in my own juices?

Mods, please feel free to jump in, or move this to the appropriate place.

What have other folks done in these circumstances?

you can pm the info about the culprit to me so i can put that person on the "do not do business with" list

Have you started a thread in the GBU (which I am sure this thread will be moved to)

Then you can out this "thief" so know one else gets ripped off.

there is already a thread on this member in the GBU from a poor trade that he had with another forumite recently. it isn't too difficult to figure out who you are talking about.

i think that you should name him. there has been enough of these types on BFC lately.

Trades on bf are based on an honor system and trust. If someone breaks this trust they should be banned completely at the very least. You should not let this go.

+1 on naming him in the GBU section.

IMHO if you did agree to DC and he sent it without, the loss should be on his dime, not yours.

It's Kershaw1085.

Here's the details:

Kershaw1085 ripped me off, more by distraction than by intent.

It has been four weeks, and I have not received the knife he promised, although he acknowledged that he received the one I sent.

This was an uncomfortable trade. We first communicated around Monday, October 11.

I sent out my knife on Wednesday, October 13; he was supposed to do the same. I did what I had promised to do, and sent him the delivery confirmation #.

On Thursday, October 14 I received the following email: “hey man thanks I didn't get a chance to ship out today works bin crazy but I will 100% ship out tomorrow before work.”

No communication from him after that.

On Saturday, October 16 I sent the following email: “The USPS says the package is set for delivery today. Please let me know when it arrives. Also, have you gotten to the post office yet?”

The next day, on Sunday, October 16, I received this email: “yes I did get the skyline today its sweet. I did not get a chance to ship out the monochrome today the boss has bin giving me over time I will make sure to throw in something for making you wait I don't have work Monday so I will 100% ship it.”

A week later, nothing had happened. I had received no communication whatsoever, and no knife.

On Sunday, October 24, 2010 I emailed him. I wrote:
“What is happening?

--I have not heard from you at all since last week. No updates, nothing.

--You said you had last Monday off, but nothing went out.

--I figured you might be busy at work, but just noticed that you posted yesterday on this thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=783682

How is it that you have time to post, and to suggest another trade, but not fulfill previous committments?

I would appreciate a reply.”

Just to be sure, I also sent it via email through Bladeforums as well.

That finally got an answer. He wrote: “sorry man to be completely honest I forgot, got a lot of trades going on/works bin crazy i just wrote a note on my hand to ship the monochrome out to you tomorrow. sorry for the misunderstanding i was not trying to rip you off in any way could you send me your shipping address agen?”

The next day, of course, I did not hear from him. That night I sent this message via email and via Bladeforums: “I haven't heard anything. Did you get to the po like you said?”

About ½ hour later I got this reply from the Bladeforums posting: “I sent it out today but i forgot to get a tracking number you should get it in 3-4 days.”

That was on Monday, October 25. It has now been two weeks. I have received absolutely nothing. Pursuing this matter with him would be pointless, and not worth the frustration. Especially without tracking numbers.

I have never received anything from him. This guy is a real artist. According to another thread (see: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=792276), at the same time that he was offering to trade me a Monochrome (which I never received) for a Skyline, he was offering the Monochrome to another BF trader

And since then he is offering my Skyline for trade!

Is there any way to get this guy banned?

I'm new to this forum ,just signed up for Gold status .
I'm not happy with the Exchange forum . I have been a member of another site that has some good rules.

One basic rule is no deals via PM'S the first " I'll take it " gets it ...period it has to be posted ..
If a member violates the rules -they're gone .
Trading is tough and you can not sell umless a gold member here
I'm too old to play games ... Moderators need to be the enforcers .
Why should anyone get ripped off??

He should send your knife back or pay you what you are out.

+1. And if not he should be banned...end of story. Once it has been proven someone is dishonest in a trade/sale, is there really a point to letting them hang around one day longer?

If I'm not miss taken he has offered a skyline up for trade a couple of times in the last week. Is that the one he got from you?

Guys, I am also new here on this forum & do not want to get in the middle of anything, but didn't K-1085 also have something posted by "risen" or "reisen" or something like that about another trade he was supposed to do not to long ago that went very badly? All we have on this forum is our word & trust, & if someone does not live up to or honor an agreement, then my feeling is he should be banned or at least given the opportunity to give us his side of the coin, & let the mod's stand it on it's edge with the decision. If someone is allowed to continue to keep posting trades & knives for sale, this just seems to go against the trust the forum was based on. Hope this all works out for both parties, too much other stuff in life to add to this.
Be safe.

Yup. i won't be buying here unless it's a forum member i'm familiar with. No chance.

I refuse to let the scumbags that represent 1% of BFC remove the trust I have in the other 99% change the way I conduct business here.

I have great faith in the Mods to remain ever vigilant against the few POS's who troll the exchange section and still believe strongly that the true knifeknuts of BFC are honest, full of integrity and whose word can be trusted.

And of course I will cram a 2X4 up the you know where of anyone who scams me!!!:D:D

I traded with him (I think I was his first trade.) I asked him to send first since he was new, and all went well. There was something sketchy about him, though, which is one of the reasons I asked him to send first.
