Thief--Kershaw1085--on Bladeforums: What to Do?

Risen, that is incredibly generous of you. I really appreciate it, and even more, you, for offering this.

I'm going to turn you down, however, for the same reason you noted. Whenever I looked at the knife it would bring up bad memories.

Let me suggest another idea. If you get a chance, why not donate it to Good Will, or to the Salvation Army? That way they would sell it to raise funds for the work they do, so it would be going to a good cause.

Again, thank you.

...Are you saying that would be a waste of time? ...What planet are you talking about?
Have you been to other planets to know the difference? If so, how many? I'd like the number to your travel agent.:)

Mail fraud can be a tricky thing, especially in a private exchange between private/non-business parties & transactions, like the one being discussed here. Considering this particular situation, yes, it would be a waste of time, imo.

Better results can be achieved here, to prevent kershaw1085 from doing this to anyone else.

Maybe this forum got a little too big for that kind of due diligence...
I am really starting to regret renewing my membership for three years, enforcement here is starting to look like the U.N..

"The less they know, the louder they know it."

If you have a problem with the administration here, post your complaint in Tech Support.

I know how you feel.

Will do regarding Salvation Army and/or Goodwill. They're regular charities of mine.

I hope something positive comes out of all this for BladeForums.

ASBOB, I wish you well for the Holidays. ;)

If you have a problem with the administration here, post your complaint in Tech Support.

By the same token, if you have suggestions about how the site ought to run, post your ideas in Tech Support (formerly Service & Support).

No need for me to go to Service & Support. As I've already posted (twice), "let me make this absolutely clear, I'm not suggesting we change/add anything" (no "changes/additions").

risen, did you not make a suggestion about changing how people are allowed to do business here? I seem to recall that you did; perhaps I misunderstood the post below. If not, do you honestly believe the scenario below is going to happen without requirement and enforcement (an impossible task IMO) from the administration? Good luck with that one.

My guess is that by conducting deals only via posts, the deal would remain in the public eye, for all to see.

I think that'd be a good thing. It'd help discourage dishonesty, imo.

Plus, with many eyes on a deal, more likely someone would catch a person trying to pull something, I believe.

We'd be able to help/support one another a little more for trades & sales. Back each other up.

Even worse, they'll add insult to injury in the end when they come back and say, "you should've gotten insurance".

Why would USPS suggest that the OP should have gotten insurance when his knife made it to the destination? The question is whether the other knife was even sent as kershaw1085 claimed it was. That may or may not be something the OP can press, but it is at least worth an inquiry next time ASBOB is in the PO. Mail fraud claims, while perhaps a lot of red tape, exist as a possibility for a reason.

Now... rather than you cluttering the thread further with more posturing, I challenge you to keep the thread about kershaw1085.

Bracing myself for a multi-quotation, extensive, and tangential reply. In the wrong subforum...

ETA: That's it for me. I'm not going to engage in the same level of "dialogue" as you got with Josh K. This thread should be about eliminating kershaw1085 as a problem--not about changing the entire dynamic of BFC's Exchange. If you have issues with or questions about what I've posted, you're welcome to PM me.

Guyon, I'd prefer it if you stop pretending to be a Mod. Esav is overseeing this thread and is doing okay without you, as far as I'm concerned.

If you'd read *and* understood my posts, you'd see that I've clearly stated (several times) that I was not suggesting any changes/additions, whatsoever. Again, I was just agreeing with someone else's post, and the reasoning I saw in the way another forum ran things. Any debate with Josh K was only regarding his own views. You should know what you're talking about before jumping into something.

Perhaps if you truly understood mail fraud and the process involved, you wouldn't be so quick to throw out such a useless suggestion. Why don't you recommend the FBI/CIA while you're at it.

To posture, you have to be in a position that matters, which you clearly don't. You talk about respect, yet you disrespectfully keep coming back trying to give this impression that you're calling the shots, which you're clearly not.

I challenge you to stop playing Mod. To me, there's nothing more disrespectful than someone jonesing for a Mod slot by playing cop on threads, especially when it's not needed.

You can help keep this thread about kershaw1085 by not playing cop and trying to control what people are posting in the thread.

Again, Esav is Moderator here, not you. Let him do his job.

You got a prob with me, PM me and I'll be happy to refer you somewhere else, as well. In fact, I'll be sure to give you some very specific directions.

[WHAT A JERK!]

Edit:
ETA: That's it for me. ...

Hm, your avatar suits you, chicken. Starting fights, then turning tail and running off. Nice!

A Google search of kershaw1085's username doesn't turn up any useful hits other than BFC hits. A BFC search here shows, however, that kershaw1085 has a post history almost exclusive to the trade forums. What strikes me as odd is that, as a keyword search, I'm not (yet) finding accolades or complaints beyond those of ASBOB and risen. Could be because folks are relying more and more on iTrader, but it also signals that kershaw1085 has likely completed most of his deals successfully. In that light, perhaps there's some small hope that he'll make good on this one, though his silence so far is not a good sign.

I cannot express how displeased I am with the way this thread is going, not without getting myself an infraction for inappropriate language. (( rugatel'stvo removed ))

Enough. I'm on the case. I am not a dedicated moderator of this forum or thread, but we are close to resolving the problem.

The problems I don't know how to resolve are, first, how to keep this on topic, and second, how to keep the personal insults out of here.

Anyone coming to this thread now and trying to read through it would find so many distractions, he could be forgiven for giving up on the system.
