Yea today is ending as good as it started. Great weather, got to get outdoors with the kids and the puppy, later there was some drinks with the wife after dinner, and i just scored this folder i been lusting over for ever. The wood handles does it for me. My buck vantage pro will probably be neglected now. I loved the lock on the manix 2, and this has the same axis lock. Good stuff.

on another humorous note. Since I wrote about the last post about the $200. Offer on the brass back. I just had a guy from England offer me a even trade for my skull dagger..................... 2 kershaw leeks............:thumbdn:

Im turning in for the night.

Holy crap. $200 for the brass back is not even worth mentioning. The only appropriate response is "you're a dumbass."

Nice Guyon. Does that lighter have the hole in the windscreen for pipe lighting?

Yeah, if the Zippo has that little pipe in the left bottom, it's set up such that the lighter lays flat on the pipe with the flame oriented vertically.

Paired up my 15 and 11 for some fuzzy-fun. The results are interesting. There are some different variables though. The 15 is stripped and I put my own edge on it. The 11 is not stripped and has the factory edge. Look at the difference though... (could be technique?).

The fuzzies made in this piece of pine with the 15 are almost cigarette paper thin, and long. The ones by the 11 are somewhat blocky and more compact. Perhaps because I thinned out the edge on the 15 a tiny bit? Does geometry come in to play with minor tasks as this? The coating (I'd doubt that)? Technique? On the latter I can say that the length of the blade on the 15 did allow for smooth, long cuts, whereas the 11's limited blade length only allowed for some shorter push cutting rather than lengthy slicing.

When the edge on the 11 gets duller in the future, I'll try to repeat it with a new, thinner edge on the 11.

Curly pic:

Anyway, not drawing conclusions here. Was just having some fun in the yard and thought I'd share. The 11 is in my pocket again, as usual. Great little knife.

Edit: lol, laughing at my own stupidity. Was cutting in the same direction, but on the opposite side of the piece of wood: grain of the wood went in opposite directions.
Tried it again and the results are a lot closer to what the 15 was capable of, but there's still a difference (fuzzies are a bit thicker and less curley).

What forum would this be on? Seems like it'd be a funny thread to read through.

It was on FB. I could put together the transcript if you really want, but here wouldn't be place for it.

One of the classics that I will remember for a long time is, I was offered a cool $200. For the brass back I just finished............. yeah, I'll call you back on that one..
Just tell 'em, "Sure! $200 for the brass back sounds about right. Now add another $500 or so for the blade, handle, guard and sheath..." ;)

In other news, we now have 16 3'x3' raised beds built filled and planted, along with 14 5-gallon containers and four 4' window boxes planted with veggies and greens.

Grats on the new folder WW. Let us know how the D2 of that Benchmade holds up in comparison of the D2 of a 24 ;) - on the next "Drunk Guy with Knives!"

Children are the spreaders of disease. The little cuties gave me some wicked cold. Figures after a week of rain it is finally sunny out and all I want to do is stay in bed all day.

Going to go catch the Blue Angels show today. Kay's never seen them before. I'm looking forward to this.

 Every time there is an air show in Toronto we go down to a lake shore park to watch them fly over. Those guys got skills.

They are awesome. Capitol Airport in Springfield used to host the "Springfield Air Rendezvous". We used to go every year they had it. A lot of fun,

I think the wife and I are gonna do a small hike today at Carpenter Park. Supposed to be a nice 73° today. Do a little cookin' on the Emberlit.

My in-laws had a yardsale yesterday, I brought some of my knives, I didn't sell any but I got a lot of compliments. One guy started asking me about the steel and he hands me his business card and says I got a bar of 440c and ATS-34, come by if you want it and walks away. Well I end up going to his house, hung out with him for a few and I left with the two bars, one of his 440c blanks he made and iron wood. As I'm leaving he says I got a wilton square grinder wanna see it? I say sure, so I ended up taking the wilton home too.

He gave me a ton of belts but when the belts start spinning they fly off cause the tape or adhesive has worn out. Anybody now what to do to fit them?

He gave up making knives to make violins. Nice guy and I wouldn't of met him if I didn't bring my knives.

The only thing that was wrong with it was the top cover is broken at the hinge and when the platen is kinda wierd. So I know have a 2x72 and a 1x42 which converts to 1x30.
