How about the fact that people want videos of the knife now. Sure, videos are cool - go ahead and flick that knife just one more time - showing me how you can flick it open three different ways - now that really gets me excited 🤪 I don't want to make videos - some good photos with an accurate description seems like plenty enough to me. I dunno? And the people who don't leave feedback? WHAT is that? Drives me nuts. Okay end of rant.

jlydon jlydon that bugged me too lol, corrected now, hey, it's an old thread, I was so much younger back then.

And yes I agree Jill, people with many knives listed and just barely able to see what's what annoys me as well.

I'm fairly ocd I think, I like things listed in order so there's no mistaking what or which one is being shown. Photos can be edited to include numbers by each knife and then have those numbers along side the descriptions in the sales thread, but I think people get too hasty and any more things are being posted via phones which can add to the messy conditions of the threads.

Seeing who was viewing your sales thread was fun, imho. I miss it. :(

The little things that bring joy can add up into a great thing, imho.

Of course poor packaging is a huge problem.

Taking receipt of a wrist watch shipped in a repurposed Priority Mail flat rate mailer that's had all the tabs cut off from previous mailings, with the contents ratting freely wrapped in a single layer of scotch tape & bubble wrap with half the bubbles blown out is grounds for nuclear negative feedback from me.

No excuse for that trifling brand of shit.

Could have been a padded envelopešŸ˜‚

Video's are tough, I'm not very good at them but I think it does help if they are included, but good still shots are key.

I see that the #1 has kept a solid lead regarding the feedback being left. One thing I look at when I check a person's selling history is not just how much feedback they got, but I check how many that they took the time to also leave and it's surprising how people will be given feedback and are very sporadic at returning the favour, myself my feedback is fairly good but I'd hazard that it would be upwards to 30% higher if folks had reciprocated.

If you want extra for paypal goods state it for the public to read. Don’t wait until I mesg to ask mmmkay thanks šŸ‘
They shouldn't want extra for "goods". The rules state all transactions should be via goods. It irritates me that people are ignoring the rules. In my finicky old age, if I see it posted F&F, I pass it by.

This is incorrect. The rules do NOT say F&F isn't allowed. They say that you are supposed to have one price, so no "Net to me" nonsense. If you want to offer both options, then you should post two prices.

As for Friends and Family, get ready to see a lot more of those sales when the Federal regulation hits next year. The first time people in states which previously had lax Paypal payment reporting laws get hit with a big tax bill because now Goods & Services payments are reported to the IRS as income, they'll either all move to Venmo/Zelle/F&F, or you're going to see a lot of people stop selling. This isn't a business for most of us.

I stand corrected! You are right, although that's not what I remembered reading when this first became an issue. Maybe it was amended? And that explains all the two price listings I've been seeing. Thank You!

Yup, I don’t take G&S anymore. If you don’t have Zelle, Venmo, or any of the other payment methods, to bad. I’m not paying taxes twice, I work 50+ hours a week and PayPal can shove it. If your not comfortable with my ā€œvouchesšŸ˜‚ā€ or history here to use F&F move along. This is a hobby to me not a business.

Group pictures. There's ten knives for sale and all you get is a couple of pictures of each side.

And yes I agree Jill, people with many knives listed and just barely able to see what's what annoys me as well.
This one is giving me pause. When I do a group sale, I use group photos -- coupled with extensive, detailed descriptions, and knives in the same order as those descriptions. I didn't realize this approach would bother some potential buyers.

With the way the new forum software does Imgur galleries, making them viewable without leaving BF, taking 40 photos (show, clip, lockup, centering) for a 10-knife sale and not having to make folks click a link to see them all is definitely viable option. More work, but potentially better for more buyers. Food for thought!

Yep, that's what I've taken to doing. Easy peasy.

Maybe it’s been going on all along and I just noticed it: selling knives as a ā€œsetā€ or ā€œpackageā€. A group of individual knifes sold only together at a set price. Once in a while I’ll see something I’d really like to have but, for example, one must buy four knives for a set price in order to get the one knife of interest. I get it that sellers can present their items as they wish but several times I’ve really wanted to purchase an individual knife but can’t due to this practice. Arrrrgh!

The way I understand the new law any third party platform will report income over 600 dollars. I assume that applies to things like venmo also, although admittedly I don't really know how the non PayPal ones work.
