Man I've had this happen, the nuts of demanding $0.29... Money is money and I'm not one to leave any on the table, but really?

My other one is the person who forgets to ask for PP fees in the ad and then asks for them after working out the deal. I had a guy do that and I only paid it because it was a screaming deal on a CRK Sebenza. Oh and he said if you sell it, make sure to let me know because I might want to buy it back. So I have to pay your "new" fees AND you're claiming dibs on it if I sell it? I finished the deal, got the knife and promptly added that chump to my ignore list.

I'm afraid I'm sounding bitter in these posts... lol. 95% of the time, transactions go really well. Most the people here are super nice to deal with and most of my experiences have been good.

Yup!! That was the only weird experience after almost 60 deals on the Exchange. Have formed many great relationships with some of the sellers also......but that single shitty one sure stands out!!

Another thing that is a problem, albeit maybe a rarity, but I haven’t seen it mentioned...

There’s no way (that I know of) to leave feedback for a deal that was engineered outside of a for sale thread. I was recently contacted via PM resulting from a sale that ai missed out on. I was able to buy a similar knife from another person but can’t leave or receive f/b. Maybe that’s by design, but as a new member, that feedback would be helpful for me to have.

I hate those posting "I'll take it" in your thread then bailing. They are on the road, at dinner, watching a movie, etc... and will pay "as soon as they can", which turns out to be never on occasion. You see they are online, browsing othe sale posts but jst can't seem to pay for yours. To others browsing the exchange, they see a bunch of replies to your post and assume the item is now gone, and don't see the "still available" a day or two later after the first guy bailed. Now you have to wait two weeks to get it back up front where it will be seen again.
If you say I'll take it, well, take it then. I have had second thoughts myself after committing but have always followed through regardless. Rant over.

I'm in the middle on this. I think anyone who says "I'll take it!" better also be requesting my Paypal information if it isn't already listed. But I'll accept "I'll take it, I'll pay when I get back from XXXX this evening."

Now that you mention, it I've been right on the hoary edge of putting YOU on ignore because of your constant whining
But then I pause and consider and I say NO - he's OK, just another BF curmudgeon - like me :D.

I had someone ask for 11¢ - like I was trying to rob his profits :(. I paid him - couldn't bear the tears.

Yep, "send me your Paypal I will take the Caly" followed up with "will pay asap". Went dark after that. Then I get "will take the Nyala" from a different guy after bargaining on price, "on my way to work but will pay in the morning", was online browsing in the morning but did not pay. Twice in 2 days. No scruples anymore and from now on my items remain for sale until $$ hits my Paypal. Lesson learned trying to be nice.

Oh yeah, I have also stopped using "SOLD PENDING FUNDS."

It's sold when I have the funds. Usually I don't have swarms of people contacting me, but if someone does contact me after I've gotten an offer, I offer them seconds.

Best thing, in that case, is to start a thread about it here. There are many threads started for just this reason.
I’ve done it a few times.

Here is an "I Wonder Why" question - please enlighten me.

I wonder why, given the choice between posting thumbnails or full images in a sales thread, so many people choose to post thumbnail photos. It's a sales thread - SHOW US WHAT YOU'VE GOT . Isn't that a primary rule of marketing?

Is there something about posting with handheld devices that preclude posting full images? If you have too many images try posting a second post below the first one.

Good full size pictures grab the buyers attention. Thumbnails are tedious as can be.

Just my 2¢.

I think that when you use the forums photo system it has a default of thumbnails, there is a way to open the thumbnail, copy That url and then past that in the thread but man that would be very cumbersome.

I use Flickr since photoducket ditched on about everyone, that still burns!!! When I go there to try and recoup my images, I'm inundated with tons of pop ups I just can't stand it...

I confess I didn't read every word in all four pages of this thread, so if someone has already said this, I apologize.

"Friends and Family" and "Net to Me" doesn't bother me at all! Actually, I consider that the seller is doing me a favor - by letting me know who NOT to deal with!

Whenever I upload a photo directly from my computer or phone I get the option to chose between full image or thumbnail. I always use full images.

At times, thumbnails can make it easier to view sales threads. What I mean by this, is that they put all the pics at the bottom of the post with all the text up at the top. Plus, you can click the thumbnail to enlarge it. You have to take more care when using full images. I saw a thread the other day with a few full images and text, and they didn't properly space it so the price was broken up away from the text and sitting at the side of a picture. Took a couple of scrolls up and down to find it. YMMV.

Agree with most of what been said. A new one that I've noticed is "add $... if you want insurance." Who cares. That's the sellers responsibility. If it doesn't show that's one of the benefits of PayPal's G&S.

This. Moreover, you just KNOW that if you buy something w/o insurance, it doesn't arrive, and you file a G&S claim, they'll be on GBU complaining about you in minutes.

I can't wait, because I won't just file the claim, I'll collect too. Fun fun fun.

Posting photos directly to the forum (at least with a lap or desk top computer) is easy as dragging the photo into the thread. You are then given the option of thumbnail or full image as benchwarmer380 writes ^. There is a potential issue of photo data being to large which requires another step to reduce. I do that with a photo program. I'm sure there are other more direct ways to reduce the data of the image. I find that 120pixels per inch and a photo of 6" to 7" wide/high is more than plenty. These make the knives appear "normal" not exaggerated in any way unless you have focused in on a detail.

As for taking care - that is the crux of the issue isn't it? Practice and care - attention to detail in all matters leads to better success Grasshopper ;) - sales thread like life.

And try to get USPS shipping insurance to pay up on a used knife! Not going to happen without contesting it three times and then you're going to get depreciated value assuming you can produce a receipt for the item. They make it very difficult to succeed on a claim over $50

People that still use Photobucket.

Looking at you, Reate Knives! :D

I prefer thumbnails, especially when there are a lot of pictures. It doesn't really make it hard to see what's going on, because you can just expand the thumbnail, but it makes sales threads with a lot of pictures easier to read, especially if the pictures aren't all at the bottom of the post with all the relevant text at the top.

Good addition guys, and I understand the problem when people don't accept paypal, I'm one of those guys, but just never wanted to get mixed up in on line finance like that, so for many years now it's been US Postal Money orders and I see a lot of people are taking those too. So if I lose on a sale or miss a sale because of that, that's the way it goes.

Old fashioned plain and simple, just ask my kids, they'll tell you :)

Gary, when I bought one from you last year I had to ask myself what a postal money order was. I know they ran some kind of banking years ago but thought that was all long gone. I know what you mean though. I now see some specialty online sellers only taking Bitcoin... don't want to go there.
