Thoughts about nutnfancy and cutlerly lover

I really like cutlerylover. He's awesome, and I like how he does more videos than just knives. Like flaslights, gear, etc.

Nutnfancy just irritates the crap outta me.

Does anyone know what happened to BLUNTRUTH4U? I think he put out the best knife reviews but apparently he's been gone for a while now?

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I agree that Blunt's reviews are the best I have seen on YouTube. He actually uses his knives at work, and at play. He stays focused on the knife as a tool and doesn't stray too far into tacticoolness.

Whatever is up with him, I hope he returns to making video reviews. I wish he'd show his face, though. The facelessness of his vids comes across a little creepy, and he can't be that bad looking.

All these guys are doing us a free service, and I appreciate their efforts.

They both like the hear themselves talk, but I'm glad they are out there doing "reviews" so I can "see" what a knife looks like in hand and such.

Though, I Thank God for the mute button sometimes.

Didn't read all the posts in this thread, but my 2 cents worth anyway.

Nutnfancy gives good reviews. He is the first place I go to get input on a knife I'm interested in.

Cutlerylover is ok. I'm not as familiar with him as I am with Nutnfancy. I find Nutnfancy more interesting, and I only subscribe to three channels, and Nutnfancy is one of them. People either love him or hate him. Your choice.

I watched a lot of Nutnfancy reviews and love how he is very detailed.
Even if I don't always agree with his opinion, the facts told are still very useful.

I watched some Cutlerylover reviews and am not a fan.
The information he gives is not really useful (not many facts more his opinion) he repeats himself a lot, and he gives sometimes bad information. I don't think he is a very knowledgeable person and I don't trust his reviews/opinions.

haha how he gives pretty good reviews and he is probobly never said tactical

I mean its my opinion. If you like him then more power to you. To me he's just some jackass who screams his name at the beginning of his videos and cuts a bottle of water and then drinks it and says "Mmmmm and it still tastes good!!" every time.

Tactical applications do matter to some people. In a life or death situation a knife employed as a defensive weapon may save your life so I don't care if the tactical aspect of a knife is mentioned, inter alia, as long as it's not over done.

Nutnfancy covers every aspect of a knife: steel, grind, profile, build quality, sharpness OOB, ease of deployment, lock and lockup, liners, scales, even the pocket clip. Yes, he can be a bit long-winded and gets sidetracked a lot. He may have a criticism of an aspect that is not an issue for you, but all of the information is there. Sift through it and make your own decision. I like that he is affiliated with, and beholden to, no one. Cutlerylover is good, but, in my opinion, somewhat less thorough. What about Cajunblaze?

IMO the louder and more often someone shouts something the less likely it is to be true.

In the beginning I might have believed that, but I am at this point very suspicious of any claims that he makes suggesting he is "independent".

also, I would like to point out that while I like CL, he, like nutn, use the word sheeple a lot and every time I here a person use that word the only thing I can think of is how much of a tosser they are.

that is precisely the opposite conclusion I have drawn from watching them. to each his own I suppose.

nutnfancy is a little repetitive but eventually he covers my questions about the equipment he reviews

I think they both do a good job putting the time into the videos etc. :)

This guy does good videos on you tube.

as for the OP, I watch their video when ever I'm thinking about buying a knife just so I can get a better perspective on what the knife looks like and its dimensions. I generally don't listen to what they have to say though, I find it a bit annoying that someone who admits that he isn't trained in knife combat mentions "tactical" on so many occasions. He called chisel grind useless, completely fixated on jimping, and many other issues which just creates a feeling that he doesn't know what he is talking about. However I do get to see what the knife looks like, so I'm grateful to those that do video reviews and spend long time just showing off the knife in front of the camera.

They each provide some useful information/visuals on products of interest and while Nutn can be a little tedious, perhaps, at times and long-winded almost always (including numerous side-tracks!), I appreciate that he makes these reviews available to us all... for free! Their videos are good data points of reference, even if all you seek is to see a knife in someone's hands to get a good look at it in comparison to the human hand and/or other knives. I appreciate their contributions, which you can always mute, turn off, or ignore, if you wish, in the first place.

I used to like both, I prefer Jeff now, I feel like nutnfacy's new videos are like 30minutes of reading the manufacturer's specs.

I stopped watching nutnfancy's videos probably when he started producing TNP t-shirts....

I end up watching nutnfancy's videos just because they come up in search results so often. He has reviewed many of the knives I'm researching. I appreciate his enthusiasm but I get tired of him and the word "tactical" (and I am actually into "tactical" gear and training, I just get tired of the word).

My favorite 2 reviewers on YouTube are CRNFAllyKat and Severator. I like that Ally reviews a variety of entry-level knives. I like that Severator seems to be mostly lefty, so that I can see how a given knife handles lefty. He seems more articulate than most of the droolers, basement dwellers, and airsofters that do knife reviews.

Honorable mention: that bro-brah snowboarder guy IamBoognish/Archman. Offbeat perspective, reminds me of my Tahoe years and always has great music.

If MilSpecMonkey got into doing knife reviews, I bet they would be awesome.

But ultimately, it's pretty much just this:
I also believe that if someone thinks that they could do better reviews, they should.

:D Cracks me up... does seem that this covers a number of knife reviewers. ;)

Two very cool guys.

But must admit that Nutnfancy's reviews are too long. They're good reviews, but just too long.

I like Nutnfancy's "Adventure" Videos where he actually puts the knives into use out in the field. You can talk all day about how you THINK a knife will perform but SEEING the knife perform is always the best Review :thumbup:

I like both of their video's. They are providing a good service for people. Whether you agree or not with their viewpoint it's good to walk away with a foundation to work from, which I think they both offer.

I live in an area where there is no retailer for knives. Everything I buy, I buy sight unseen. It's hard to plunk down a chunk of money for a knife that you have no idea how it will feel in your hand.

I appreciate what they offer and I have been helped through several purchases due to their video's. I have also passed on a couple that I thought I wanted until I watched their stuff.
