Thoughts on a Suga variant

Looking great, I can't wait to see how this continues. I am really liking the whole project so far. Bawanna, sorry bud, but you know neither of us could legally EDC this regardless of the extra inch and a half... it has 2 sharp edges. Same problem I run into if I take my Suga out of the house. That said, if I can afford em when they are ready one WILL be coming to live here.

Just knock the edge off the swedge. Laws are made to be severely tested and bent when necessary.

Sincerely
"The Rabble Rouser"

PS- Even this, nice as it is would not replace my IBBB, gonna take something very very special to take that off my belt.
I'm pondering wearing pajama's again just so I can wear a belt with my IBBB on it when I sleep.

You should've been a kangaroo Bawanna. You could just throw everything 1911's and all in your pouch and keep em there. Pugs would have to make you a pocket protector tho.

You can hide a ton of crap on a wheelchair dude. And usually the folks checking folks at event centers and such don't want to touch me or my stuff. Usually they escort me to the head of the line and through the door and my people don't get checked either.

I never knew what they were checking for, looking in purses etc. Last time the guy said something I didn't hear and just went on in. Wife told me the guy said you don't have a knife in your pocket or anything do ya?
If he only knew..................................no sheep in bawanna.

You know, checking bags and stuff is great, but if they don't check pants pockets, and have no metal detector, what exactly are they supposed to be looking for? I just unclip my EDC and put it in my pocket, and walk right through, I laugh everytime I see these kinds of "security checkpoints".

I almost got through the Federal courthouse one time with a big folding knife. I wasnt even thingking about it and threw it in the basket with my keys and such. It rode down the conveyor and out the other end and wasnt noticed until I started putting the stuff back into my pocket. They wouldnt have noticed it at all except I dropped it on the table while loading my pockets again. Just never know?

At the rodeo in Reno when I visited Auntie they didn't allow camera's through the checkpoint. So we had to go back and put it in the car. I left my belt gun in the car thinking they would check me over. Went back through, they didn't give me a glance but they went through my wifes stuff and her purse. I asked if she left her gun in the car, and she said no. They just didn't see it.
When we got back to motel, I looked through her purse (I highly never recommend this, too many scary things in a womans purse). I couldn't find it. The purse is heavy and has a lot of bling on the outside so the weight isn't a factor.

She said it's there. She pulled it out in about 2.1 seconds.???? There's a little zipper pocket inside that when you push stuff around it just kind of disappears and goes unnoticed. Almost have to know it's there.

Might have to get me one.

I was playing around with SolidWorks tonight and have a basic blank drawn up. Still trying to figure out how to "sharpen" it though. The complex curves are hard to get a profile on. Hopefully my google foo is strong enough to find an easy solution. The handle won't be hard to render at all and then I will assemble the knife. I will try to post some pics tomorrow so people can get an idea what it looks like in 3D. I think this is going to be sweet. I'm going to save to be in for one.

You may not need to sharpen it. I wasn't expecting this to happen so quickly, but we can send your version on to the Kami and with the instruction to sharpen it the same as the normal version.

I think you got everyone so excited, help is coming from all angles, because it looks like there is a lot of interest in your variant.

And I've finally gotten around to sending the email, now that I know that a blank is already in the works.

It's actually kind of strange for me that people are so excited for this design. I was expecting some interest, not this level of interest and assistance. Thanks to all of the people here, what started as an idea that struck me as interesting but unlikely to happen is actually coming to pass.

Scara, I think the thing about this group is that we LOVE HI khuks and knives of all sorts AND we LOVE to discuss blades of all sorts. So the opportunity to help out with someone designing a new opportunity for a unique and well thought out HI blade is just sort of triply intriguing.

LoL, you dissidents carrying everywhere. My only thing is that I am so attached to me EDC blades and guns that if I was to have one confiscated I would be heartbroken. I usually swap in a blade that I don't care as much about if I am going to something where I know I am not supposed to have anything. It seems like my purse is usually checked over pretty well, hmm maybe I just give off an "I am a dangerous troublemaker and carrying a lot of weapons" type vibe or something. Though if there isn't a metal detector, I usually carry in a flashbang holster since finding it would require some "serious" patting down and no one is likely to grab a middle-aged overweight lady's breasts to see what she has hidden under the edge of her bra. Still I swap in an old Makarov that I am not as attached to just in case they grab one of those damned metal finder wands.

I don't think the Kami's can sharpen it, SolidWorks is a 3D CAD program. You can draw multiple parts and then mate them together in an assembly, really cool program. I wish I had the tools to build an actual blank, that would be awesome. I will get pics of the rendering up later today, I have to download a program to view the drawing on my work computer,

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you were drawing it up in SolidWorks and then going to CNC one. If that were the case we could then send your blank on and tell them to make one shaped like it and sharpened in the normal places. But no worries, we still have Bawanna willing to make a wooden blank, and if Auntie says it's feasible then we are good to go. And I think I need to calm down. I was excited when I opened up my email today, hoping to have a reply already. It was not to be, but then I got excited when a message came in, and it was spam from Brownells. So I'll just calm down and be patient.

I wish I had those capabilities, but I am a MEP engineer, not a lot of machining around here! LOL!

I have an important announcement for everyone, and you're going to love it.

Yangdu likes the design, and she will be sending KP513's sketch on to the kami and shop manager after Dashain and Tihar. She says we'll probably be seeing a completed knife before Christmas. It also looks like the sketch will be sufficient for the kami. I'll do my best to keep everyone posted.

Some views of the CAD model.

I'm already kind of visualizing that with some stag handles. It's kind of sending my pulse rate thru the ceiling which is good, fast pulse is good right. Tell me its good.

I had always imagined it with satisaal wood, but stag handles would be real nice.

Unrelated note, I now have sixty posts, and nearly forty of them are in this thread.
