Back to the drawing board...Hey W. When I look at your original design, all I can see it the old Massey Ferguson tractor logo (google it). I think it's great that you have some strong ideas for what you want it to represent. Perhaps now you need a graphic design professional to help flesh it out. I know you can find them priced very reasonably on different shopping sites, particularly ones that sell a lot of crafts and custom made items (sorry, I can't be more specific but I'm not sure what the rules are here). Keep it up and best wishes.

I've actually got a couple people helping with fleshing out a final design....that will look much different than the Massey Ferguson logo (Thanks for pointing that out) I never wouldve known.
Poll's up in PracTac.Maybe you should do a poll to find out how many people would be interested in viking aesthetc self defense knives as a basis for an entire brand of knives. These are likely not knives your joe shmoe knife buyer will be purchasing.
I agree that finding a niche is a good thing for a business but I still feel you are making a company that will sell knives you would want for yourself. For a company to be profitable you have to sell what your customers will want.
I've decided to do this. My lady friend, who is also into Asatru, is assisting me on creating a bindrune for the logo. I'll put "VALDYR" in tasteful lettering on the spine side of the tang, clearly visible. I get that I'm not catering to the mass of SD knife buyers, but that's cool. Some of us like the classic look of brass and wood in a design that is firstly a weapon.
I suppose that would be the intended demographic, as well as people who are tired of the same old. I know a few LEO around here as well, and they have expressed interest, even at the price point I'm looking at.I sincerely hope you prove me wrong and I wish you alot of success with it. Maybe you can get like bikers or heavy metal fans into it.
Most recent rough thing, it contains the runes that would spell VALDYR in bound form. I know. It's busy., but the name also spelled out in latin letters would make the knife identifiable. I'm wondering on aesthetics, here. Please, tell what sucks and why, if you feel that way. Trying to zero in on something tasteful and uncommercial. I'm sort of committed to the old Norse thing.![]()
I think knives look better without logos on the blade, but again, that's personal preference.

Look into bindrunes. Its an interesting process.I'm going to go out on a limb and say that nobody is going to have a clue what that means or how it pertains to your knives or company name. It's a complete disconnect. I'll add that if you look at Norse runes, none of them are anywhere near as busy as what you're presenting. It takes much more than a whole mess of straight intersecting lines to actually look like runes.![]()

I know. This stuff really gets the gears turning. I've got so many iterations at this point my head hurts. It’s very interesting, no doubt. But that doesn’t change the fact that nobody will have any clue what that logo is.
Also, you know what they say about if you have to explain it...
