Thrifty Thursday... Cheap Traditional Knives

$1.00 at the flea market. It’s the stunt double for my Vic Classic. It goes in my pocket when I’m going somewhere there might be a possibility of losing it at the door. The scissors actually cut pretty well.

Scrolling through the thread titles, I thought this was "Thirsty Thursday" (when the beer is half price at the ball park!)! Wishful thinking, I guess.

But I will probably change out my Thiers knife this evening for my Opinel No. 8--about as economical as they come: $15 new.

Now that you mention it, I think it was slightly more than I had remembered. I was thinking 25$-30$ but bow I'm thinking they actually went for 40$-45$. Kinda on the high end of inexpensive, I have to admit.
But worth it.
I don't remember how much mine was either, but I thought it was pretty high considering the broken handle. Too pretty to leave, though.
Another Imperial: I thought it was a peanut when I bought it.

Talk about cheap!! Five bucks at a Bow Shop in 1980 - 1981. Kershaw KAI

GEL3V0X.jpg

I have three of these, brilliant little knives, but it isn't a KAI, that's the Japanese manufacturer, it's called a D.W.O which stands for Delly Wade Officer, quite a story behind the name.

The D.w.o. Is Named For Delley Wade Officer, A Friend And Hunting Partner Of Kershaw Founder Pete Kershaw. Delley Was Killed In A Tragic Hunting Accident. At Less Than 60 Yards, A Careless Hunter Mistook The Horse Delley Was Riding For A Bull Elk, And Fired. Delley's Story Emphasizes How Important Hunting Safety Is. A Portion Of The Proceeds On Sales Of The D.w.o. Still Goes To Help Delley's Family.

This one just arrived... I've wondered about these for a while... seems like a good size for an EDC, or B&T knife. I'm probably going to put scales on it, just for a better grip, and I might reprofile the tip a little, to give it a slightly better point.
About $14.... 420HC steel.... Amurrican made..:D Pretty thrifty...

Thrifty Thursday Carry
Case Boys Knife in Yellow Delrin
It's a 3" knife and has super slim handles.
I can just imagine a boy in the 50's saving his money to buy one.
John I really love this Case Boys knife, so many things right with it. Yellow for one, bare head, and a single blade, and CV, marks off a lot of my boxes, not to mention simple design. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sure Ben, known for his frugality, would be thrilled to be surrounded by two dozen of these little low-cost jewels (Think rhinestones, rather than diamonds!).

Thats a fine looking collection T-A.

I pocketed some Rough Riders today. Loaded the two smooth bone then noticed I had an empty watch pocket so tossed in the stag whittler,
why not.

Thanks. :)
They really take me back to childhood and make me smile.

Nice find

Some of us old boys would save for one too
Thanks. :)
I didn't have to save up long, it went pretty cheap on auction... hence the "Thrifty" part. ;)
