"When they work"? Back in the day the "Boy's Knife", and other shell handled knives, had the same blades as the more expensive "adult knives" with real bolsters.Love those old... and as some folks refer to as "junk knives" When they work they are honestly all you ever need.![]()
An Irish made "Stag" brand. I think its the same as an Irish made Imperial. Maybe not, but to my untrained eye it looks like an Imperial. Shell construction, no wobble as of yet, decent snap, nice half-stops, approx. 3 1/8" long closed. Note the sunk joints. I like this knife. I've carried it some and it's cut anything I wanted to cut on those days; nothing tough
Good little, cheap knife

Measuring 3 3/8 inches, with the ring, a Shapleigh"s EVERY BOY and a Shapleigh"s GENERAL UTILITY. And notice the closed backs. I wonder if the guarantee still applies? Have a Thoroughly Thrifty Thursday! T-A
Opinel is a great "thrifty" knife I bought 3 of these 1 for me one for my son and one to give away in a GAW I hosted still have mine and in mint condition.

Victorinox Floral knife, less $15, sharp, lightweight, good to keep one in many places. They also made this with a clip blade called the day packer.

Since shell construction seems to be a theme today, I grabbed this little Richards of Sheffield (a gift fromJack Black ) for this week’s Thrifty Thursday.
