EO, but tone down the blade some. I already have butter knife!

Thanks to the team who are volunteering their time to make this happen for all of us.

It looks like the EO is running away with the voting so far. I picked one of the underdogs. :)

Thanks for the opportunity to participate,
David

I already have a lot of HJs, so it's EO for me!
But I will buy a 2011 knife regardless! In fact I'll order 2!!

I voted HJ on the poll. Although what I really want is an EO - HJ(Easy Open with a punch like the picture I posted on the previous thread) but I reckon that was just to much to hope for.

I'd say that's still a possibility Anthony. If the EO prevails (looks like it's the runaway choice), surely a punch blade could be fitted up as the second blade regardless of who the manufacture is. Now that would be worth buying.

Bill at GEC tells me the punch would have to be too short to fit an EO, without intruding on the notch. He said he won't do it because it won't look quite right, in his opinion.
Personally, I like long slim punches, as they work more easily, and it is easier to regulate the hole size. I have to agree with him.

EO or sunfish
a 4" or less trapper is good, always good

a wharnie trapper even better...

So does that mean that if GEC is selected to do the EO that the EO will be on their 3" pattern? Kinda short/small. We might call it a "Midget EO" .

Just so y'all know, we are gonna put it to vote for the second blade choice. I bet the punch will run away with it instead of pen, but that is for another day. Remember, doing extra features can make restrictions down the line. Cost and manufacturer's willingness is critical. No promises as of yet, but I think you get the spirit, we are trying our best. ;)

Make sure you tell all of your forum buddies who are going to buy a knife to get thier vote in the poll. Do not forget to vote in the poll. Remember we are going by the poll, it takes too long to count up opinions.

This item may make the punch a deal breaker for the EO, but we will see. Charlie is on this year's staff to help us out with details, and keep us from making promises we cannot deliver. ;)

GEC is willing to work with us preliminarily, but no manufacturer is solidified as of yet. Let us get the pattern decided first, and then we can move on to the next steps.

I'd so like an HJ in carbon and ebony - if nothing else this process has convinced me of that :)

GEC has indicated they will do a FULL SIZE EO for us!

I hope we can keep a caplifter/screwdriver on the table for a secondary blade for the EO.
I have no harnesses to punch but plenty of beer bottles to open. :D

I'm with you on this one Corey. I think I've got a few loose screws as well.;)

It's good to hear that GEC would be willing to make a full size one. They have some well made knives, but their current version of EO doesn't hold a candle to the vintage ones that have been posted in these threads, at least aesthetically speaking.

Yep...what he said. I also have many carbon steel slippies (hopefully we all do) -- and I love them all, but I really have a hankering for this one to combine the old-timey pattern & handle material (Jigged bone?) we seem to be gravitating towards with some higher-end stainless blades. 440c/D2/14-4 CrMo from any of the ones we have been talking about (GEC, Queen, CSC, etc.) would work dandy... and something like CPM-154 or the like would really make it interesting.

Personally, I'd love to see CSC take-on a ~4" EO knife using their 14-4 CrMo.

The caplifter/screwdriver would be a good option too Corey.
