to: lynn griffith...

Since I have a few minutes I would like to share my thoughts on this situation.First off, does Lynn have a wife and /or kids that he is supporting?I hate to see someone getting mob slammed in a way that might take food out of the mouths of someone(wife/kids)who really didn't have anything to do with the situation.. next-I have a real problem with the way Richard has handled himself in this entire mess. The guy is playing both sides of the fence and really comes out of this looking like a real slimeball."Lynn,i cant believe you made me post ads and promote your products.waaaaaaa!"
also-"lynn asked my 13 yr old if she thought he was cute"-what are you saying there dick?
Did he come out of the shop covered in soot and say jokingly "do I look cute?" or did he drop his drawers and say"do I look cute?"If you are going to hit a guy low please provide the tone and particulars.

Tim screw you you prick.I would never buy a knife from you.You remind me of everything bad about the 6th grade.I dont know what your particular malfunction is -bad childhood maybe. But you are pretty funny.

Lynn screw you.I would never buy a knife from you.C'mon man charging $10 extra for different colored g-10.Why not whip out the knife you needed for the photo then give it away online on your forum? Also you banned me from your forum for a joke.Censorship sucks.I bought a livesay nrgs instead for 45.00 great little utility knife and cool maker too. There were no extra charges.I hope you get yourself together as far as your forum goes,If it were less cultlike I would visit more.
I'm off to bed,
troy

Hey Tim.They let me out last week.Amazing what a little shock therapy can do for a soul.lol.I might have missed it in your post, but what do you make of this Phill Hartsfield guy in relation to his marketing and ethics?I'm just curious.

Gee, Ben, you mean you asked Tim a question and he didn`t answer it? Now wait a minute! Isn`t that what Tim`s all upset about with Lynn. Gosh, I wish I could keep up with Tim`s razor sharp intellect!

Tim-Why don`t you explain exactly how Lynn running his business his way effects the ENTIRE knifemaking world. And don`t use any big words, because I`m really not that bright, okay?

So far, all you say is "see? you just don`t get it." Well, explain it to me. Enlighten me, okay?

Tim, you might not be as well thought out on this issue as you think you are. So far, you`ve explained nothing to me, but continue badmouthing Lynn and anyone who disagrees with you. Is there room for differing opinions in your world, Tim? Talk about a close-minded old fool! Why not leave your potty mouth and your amusing graphics out of this and try just communicating like a mature adult?

I swear, you`d think Lynn owed these guys an alimony payment, the way they carry on about him!

steve b i have explained this to you far too many times, you comprehending this aint gonna happen so i aint wasting anymore time on you
tongue.gif

hey "its just knifemaking" remember? so quit getting your panties in such a wad
biggrin.gif

ben e, i dont know about phil hartsfield cuz he dont come here and toot his horn and pound his chest like lynn has at every possible chance. does he lie to people and make up rediculous things too?

Lynn doesn`t come here and pound his chest anymore. You guys ran him off, remember? The only time he comes around now is defend himself from threads like these.

For the record Tim, you have never explained how one little knifemaker is effecting the ENTIRE knifemaking world. As I recall, you`ve asked me to perform oral favors on you, and told me to eff off, but you`ve never once explained it to me. If you won`t do that, will you at least direct me to a thread where explain how Lynn is ruining the knifemaking world.

I`m serious, I`d really like to know!

Or better yet, drop me a private email. My email is in my profile, please feel free to use it.

I promise to be civil in my responses to you if you`ll just explain this to me.

Deal?

So I guess it really isn't about the fate of the knifemaking world.I guess from your response -i'm guessing because you are dodging the issue a little-this is all about the marketing?I can steal and lie all I want but if I come to your forums and toot my own horn then you have a problem.I get it now.Lynn used to be the worst self promoter on these forums but that was over a year ago hes toned it down alot.Thank god.I guess I thought this thread was about more than just personality.I thought we were going to hear some real details about makers claims and lies. But once again it just comes down to you not liking Lynn.Gee I can't believe I didn't see that one coming

BenE, where the heck you been hiding. We missed you. Keep posting. I promise to not send you a "Bite Me" reply to your emails again

"YAWN" How many more pages can this one milk? Back to bed maybe when next I awake it will be 8 pages "YAWN"

Kit- Sorry, but I`m not a "Lynn groupie". Lynn`s knives don`t really excite me. The only ones I ever liked were the stag handled ones in the Russell catalog. I`ve never owned one and most likely won`t ever own one. I don`t think I`ve ever posted over on Lynn`s forum, but I could be wrong. Check it out. I doubt Lynn knows me from a hole in the ground.

It`s odd how you and Tim deal with opinions that differ from yours. I think it speaks volumes about you as people. I respect you as knifemakers, always have, always will. But as people, you`re just immature bullies so caught up into knife-stuff that you seem to have lost some of your common decency. It`s a shame. Grownups can usually talk things they disagree about in an agreeable manner.

Of course, Tim hasn`t contacted me via private email. What`s strange about this whole Lynn mess is that when you hold Tim`s feet to the fire and ask for specifics, there aren`t any. Tim can`t come up with one credible instance of Lynn`s lack on integrity, in spite on me begging for just one example. It seems like Tim and Kit have something to fear from Lynn continuing as a knifemaker. Why else would there be so much hostilty towards the guy? It`s sad that you two can`t be secure in your own sucess as world class knifemakers without bringing down those who don`t fit your own personal mould of what a knifemaker should be. It`s a big world, there`s room for all of you.

Kit-it IS just knifemaking. I`m not sure what you imply by repeating my quote here. I guess I just don`t have my priorities straight, huh?

For all you guys that just come in to post, yep, it's still going. Mostly cause we are replying to you. Simple, I ask a question, you answer. You ask a question, I answer. That's the way it works.
Make a note in your DayTimer. Why come back?

SteveB, this issue has been discussed, face to face, between the three of us. It will probably be discussed again at our next annual meeting. You simply don't have a clue. With only about 1% of knowledge that you have on this subject, why don't you just walk away. It doesn't concern you.

What concerns me is a person who was about 20 when our president was elected and has watched him spin everything. Lying is okay, doing anything you can to stay in office is okay. That's what has happened in the last 8 years and it has badly influenced the younger crowd. That's NOT the way business, especially our knifemaking business should work. I would have to assume that you fall into that younger crowd, so it's okay to do that. After all, it wasn't really sex.

I won't post again until you do. I know there will be more to say.

You other guys, don't forget to make that note in your DayTimer.

Steve, I know Kit and Tim, and some of the background behind this whole sordid Griffith thing. At first, I felt like you and Hoodoo. This is simply unfair harassment.

But you really do not entirely understand what is going on here. There is much information that simply will not be discussed openly.

I know you won't believe this, but Tim and Kit are a couple of the finest human beings you could ever meet. I know you do not understand the way they often express themselves, and sometimes neither do I. But if you stop, look, and listen, you will realize there is a lot more going on here than just what you think you see in this thread. Let it go. You are not helping Lynn, nor battling monsters. I don't know what else to say...

Paracelsus, inviting steveB to chat at #bladeforums.com on any Newnet server any night. It would be fun.

Hi folks. I don't know what has or hasn't transpired between Tim,Lynn, and Kit. I just wanted to mention that the whole reason the Knifemaker's Guild was formed around 1973 was to insure integrity, honesty, truth in advertising, and to promote the sharing of ideas and techniques among makers. For you younger guys, before that time there was a scattering of makers around the country, some honest, some shysters. And they all regarded any other maker as competition and kept their methods secret. AG Russell,Bob Loveless, and 9 others changed all that. See, after doing business with a ripoff knifemaker people figured they were all like that. I'm pretty sure that without the formation of the Guild, knifemaking would be much different today.
What's my point? Ok, if there really is something wrong going on here, maybe the Guild board of directors should be brought in on this. Though I'm not sure if Lynn is a member, I know Tim and Kit are.And maybe should be done out of the public eye.
Picture this-a guy new to knives comes here, reads this thread, and what's he gonna think?
So to sum it up:Yes, I believe the knifemaking world(particularly makers) has to police itself, but perhaps not so much in public.
