Traditional blades and BBQ

As I understand it, you don’t find these much outside of my hometown St Louis, Missouri: pork steaks.

There is a place in the bootheel town of Holcomb called Strawberry’s. Inch and a half thick pork steaks you can eat with a plastic fork.

I grew up in St. Louis and it's true - those pilgrims love them pork steaks. Always on sale at every supermarket. But I was actually born in Kansas City where they smoke EVERYTHING. Beef, chicken, turkey, ham etc. etc etc. (voice of Arnold - if it bleeds - we can smoke it) Whoever thought up this thread gets a Gold Star........ Murica!

We BBQ pork steaks here in Canada, eh. That's a little outside your home town :):D

A bit outside, yes :). But nice to know our neighbors to the north have also discovered these. Now I have another reason to visit Canada some day, other than the hockey Hall of Fame.

Looks very tasty, Tom! Did you Maull it? :D

Of course Jeff! Well ....... let’s say Mauls was the base and I added a bunch of spices to it :)

That is exactly how I like mine too :)

I love KC bbq, but sometimes you don’t want everything smoked :D. And agreed, thanks to the op for starting this thread.

I won this lump o' rump in a meat raffle.
It's more or less a triple thickness steak with triple thickness New York steak still attached. Never seen anything quite like it.
Asked the butcher ...who told me it's basically lazy butchering done for meat raffles....slice off the New York cut and cook separately. That said the quality was outstanding and it came up a treat in the barbie.
Please note the Yorkshire pud mix...the perfect accompaniment. As an ex pommy it was behooven of me to include them.

Thanks Josh and Mitt! Coincidentally we had Texas toast to go with it. My girlfriend said it was too hot for baked potatoes :).
The weather is never too hot for baked potatoes.

One of my favorite camp meals is a good steak cooked over the coals of a camp fire, a potato baked in the coals, a side of red beans, and chili to top the potato. I could eat that year round three times a day and never get tired of it.
