Traditional Knives & Slingshots

Have you guys noticed that the flat bands work better for you than round? Growing up in the woods I did quite a bit of slingshot shooting and after my dad told me to use surgical tubing I thought I had the best in the west! It works pretty danged good. I wonder if I've been missing out though?

I like tubes, but you should really give flat bands a go, they're a revelation. They're incredibly fast, and easy to sight down, and they have a lot more power than seems apparent when you retract them 👍

Hmmm, interesting! Alright I'll definitely give them a try next time I find me a nice piece of forked wood to make one with. Thank you!

Check out some of the YouTube channels or SimpleShot, and read up about draw length, matching bands to ammunition, sighting, etc 👍

Ok, will do thank you. My slingshot knowledge is pretty basic. I'll have to learn me some of the science behind it.🍻
Yeah, mine too, even though I'd used a slingshot from being a kid (with heavy, square rubber, or heavy tubes) 😁 With those 'new' bands you can get incredibly accurate, very fast, but it definitely helps to check out the science a bit too 🙂👍

Yea I bet there's even a slingshot forum around somewhere where people geek out just as much as us knife guys do here haha. I'll have to do some exploring!

Hope you have fun with it Mike :)

What's happening slingshot fans? ;)

You tie a great bandset Mike 😎 I love the pouches too, and appreciate you cutting the band's long 🙂 I am looking forward to getting out in the woods again 👍

Is anyone heading out to the woods, or back garden, for some slingshot practice this weekend? I'm going to wait until my back is recovered first, but I sure am missing using my slingshots. Have fun folks

Yesterday I went after the honeysuckle in my jungle border. Many nicely shaped forks, but the wood is too feeble, which comports with the fast growth, I guess. It doesn't even snap; it almost tears when you pull the pieces out of the grape vines.

My band-tying band is due today.

That's a shame Jer :(

Hope it gets to you on time :)

Yeah. I think I'll bind it in faggots and dump it at my sister's neighbor's firepit.
Not like that guitar-stand that suddenly became undeliverable in transit yesterday. (I have a better one alleged to be arriving Sunday (but it was $3 more.))
Oh no! 😕 I got some junk in the mail yesterday, two collapsible water bottles, by a company called Vapur, which are not as described, and overpriced rubbish really
