During the first lockdown here, I was using match-heads as targetsGnats on the wing at forty yards!
I agree Jer, some of the Chinese-made models are like thatWhy not put knurled wheel heads on these screws and make them finger-tightenable?

I'll ask them.
If one could find one's thread gauge, maybe one could find a finger-tightenable screw of the same pitch and moment. Or take it to a good hardware store.I agree Jer, some of the Chinese-made models are like that![]()
Absolutely Jer, I was looking for them for another project online, but a good hardware store would be a better sourceIf one could find one's thread gauge, maybe one could find a finger-tightenable screw of the same pitch and moment. Or take it to a good hardware store.
I asked SimpleShot. Maybe they'll overnight me a couple pairs!Absolutely Jer, I was looking for them for another project online, but a good hardware store would be a better source

"Slingshots" have come a long way from a forked limb with gum rubber bands.Absolutely Jer, I was looking for them for another project online, but a good hardware store would be a better source

Seems to me it was simpler in the old days, but maybe only because my memory is faulty.not sure what the best "all-around" size to get is. (9mm steel, 7/16" clay, 1/2" glass marble) so going to get some talered .65; .75; and .80mm bands. See witch I like best ... Hope I will be able to hit the target. (with luck the target will be one and/or more of the age unknownveggie garden eating chucks, and I will successfuly turn them off.
. Shame though ... can't convert them to stew or fried, or even tan their hides to make a nive sheath or something else useful. Big boss said (somewhat louder than necessary ... I ain't deef ... yet...) "NO WAY!!! when I asked her if they could be made into a supper or lunch. I don't get it. She has them serve "hot dogs" and "corn dogs"
I will guess she no's what pig n clucker parts is in them vile things.

Nothing wrong with your memory. Old days were simpler. Maybe harder in some ways but simpler. Simpler is better in a lot of waysSeems to me it was simpler in the old days, but maybe only because my memory is faulty.
I like simple, adding fancy sights, and spirit levels, takes the fun, and challenge out of it, but I think it's the modern latex bands that make all the difference. Rubber bands aren't all that different, but they don't last as long"Slingshots" have come a long way from a forked limb with gum rubber bands.

I loved my old Milbro and Barnett slingshots, but I thought I'd done well if I could hit a tin-can!Seems to me it was simpler in the old days, but maybe only because my memory is faulty.
Is that the square rubber of which you spoke?I like simple, adding fancy sights, and spirit levels, takes the fun, and challenge out of it, but I think it's the modern latex bands that make all the difference. Rubber bands aren't all that different, but they don't last as long![]()

When I was a kid, we could get large rubber bands similar to those in the left of Jack's photo. The mail carriers always had them and would leave a couple when they knew I was at my grandparents. That was half a century+ years ago though. Is that the square rubber of which you spoke?
If we ever had that here, I missed it.
