Traditional Knives & Slingshots

Have you tried small castration rings to hold the bands on?
One of my acrylic(?) catapults from TEMU used those. Somewhat of a challenge to get on, but they worked great ... until one of the forks broke off the handle ... 🤬🤬🤬

I salvaged the band and castration rings. The broken fork and handle is somewhere in the landfill now.
No, but I don't want such things in my house.😧

Maybe tiny o-rings.

Any old office rubber band will work better than tape. You’re asking for a band tip to the eye doing that.
Just snip a rubber band so it’s not a solid loop, wrap around the fork while keeping the band pulled taught, then tuck in in the tail, the elasticity of the rubber keeps compression on the band, and the friction keeps it from slipping.

I like to wrap half to three quarters that way, than flip the tag end of the flat band back up over the wrapping and continue to wrap the remainder of the rubber band til it’s nearly gone, then tuck.
It’s very secure that way.

It will slip out of that tape eventually, as when you stretch the bands the blubber contracts, imagine being full draw when one of those slips out, best case you get a cheek slap, worst case it tags you in the eye.

That's basically what they are.
Mine are about 7/16" across, 3/16" thick, with a 3/16" hole (give or take; about the size of a Cheerio). Like I said: "they are a challenge to get on the forks." 😊

I wound up repurposing mine to prevent the blade from hitting the brass Chicago Screws on my two full size SVORD.
(Drats! I seem to have deleted the photos of that mod. in progress. 🤨☹️ Oh well, can show one installed, anyway. 😁👍)

It is compressed somewhat between the handle halves. (it does prevent blade strike and dulling the blade at that point.)

Amazon sells them. This is the size of mine.

They do stretch to fit the forks on your catapult, and fit in the grooves when installed.

This is working.

I understand that the tiny black tape is supposed to go in the grooves, I just can't do it.
You need a helper Jer 👍

Yikes! 😱😖

Quoted for truth 👍

They look like just what I got from the catty shop! 🤔😁👍

The elastic banding tape also is called crystal string or crystal tape. That mini unifloxx looks pretty sweet. I'm growing to like shooting the smaller frames.

Thanks Tom, I was thinking it was crystal string, and then I started thinking that was something else! Old age and early mornings! 😁 Thank you, I've found the mini very hard to aim with, but I have large hands. You've got to try, right?! 😁👍

I always wear my safety glasses.
And these bands are tighter than anything I can tie.

There, I'm happy. I'll step aside for somebody else to monopolize the thread for a while.
Very good Jer 👍 Hey, I want to hear how your shooting, and that you're still OK! 😁👍
