Traditional Knives & Slingshots

{{{sigh}}} I never was good at throwing overhand. 😕 Oh well ... at least I hit close (I think) to the leaf I was using for a target on the hay bales using the round and flat band slingshots. I even come close (inside 8~10 feet anyway) of hitting the hay using the sling. 😁 I think I need to practice with it a bit. 🤔
Wish I had my 5 foot Cold Steel "professional" big bore blowgun and darts with me. I might not be a "professional" blowgunner, but it doubles as a dandy staff/hiking stick. (2mm wall aluminum tube. came with a crutch tip to protect the muzzle when using it as a staff (walking or weapon) /hiking stick.) I was fairly accurate with it. I could use it to execute the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 garden eating Rockchuck family 🤬😡 that's taken up residence under one of the storage sheds.😇

It's fun to shoot, that's for sure. Really comfortable, and the forks aren't too wide ;)
Great to have your thoughts Mike

LOL! :D Those blow-guns are very accurate, and easy to use (kind of intuitive), if I recall  As a teenager, I had an American friend who had one (not CS), but then they made them illegal here for some reason :( Anyone under 60 here, most likely, has never seen one :(
And a couple customs out this afternoon :)

Cool Mike  That top one is kind of weird-looking, like an alien slingshot! 😂:thumbsup:

Drat and double drat...I went for a walk through the bushland yesterday.Found a nice pocketful of gibbers ...was plinging them away at tree stumps with that lovely satisfying " FWA DAPPP" * sound...when the rubber snapped...Not surprising as I bought this in England in 98...Anyhoos I continued on foot undaunted all the way to the brewhouse...where one of the guys told me of "Hawaiin sling" which is rubber for hand operated spearguns..off to the tackle shop in Narooma today.

*With apologies to Don Martin of mad magazine.

So all y’all like those fancy slingshots, what about hand made ones? I mean...whittled with your knife. Anyone have examples of that?

I got the bands in today, and I am planning on making my own. I hope to look for a suitable piece of wood next weekend. I don’t really have much of an interest in them outside of a carving project - hopefully that doesn’t change… 🤣

I’ve always liked them because I grew up with them. But I’ve only ever had the wrist rockets.

Well, since you jokers thought this thread was such a great idea...

Which slingshot should a guy start with? You've had me looking at them all dang day.
LOL! 😂 There's certainly a lot of choice out there, as you've no doubt discovered! ;) I think you could do worse than one of those inexpensive Sparrow slingshots from SimpleShot. Or how about a Uniphoxx from Wasp? I'm sure other posters will have recommendations
Definitely unconventional, but if you're looking for a consistent hold and shot, it delivers :)
