Traditional of the Month: Barlow

Finally got a pic of my GEC, but it isn't the greatest:

Y'know, any time you want to get that baby bad boy out in the sun or in other direct light for another picture so we can see the Green, well....

We'll wait here.

LOL

I still have to get pics of my fixed blades...and something is on the way here today that needs pics, thanks to Vince :)

Guess I better get the fancy camera out!

You're right I don't where the blue is, maybe excessive tan to be a fashion victim these days :)) :))
But actually with direct sunlight provided that the planets are aligned with the milky way and every four years you can guess a little blue

I just received this fine shadow Barlow from Mr J Oeser. Its his 5th slipjoint, and it boggles the mind to imagine whats in store for slipjoint lovers from this young maker. Jared adds a new school flavor to his knives and his style really resonates with me. So I'm going to play the game and let it ride this month, and wanted to get some shots of the knife in its virgin state--- its her first time, but Im not gonna go too easy on her:D The blade is 01(his first in 01) so I'm expecting a nice patina to form in no time. For those of you who are interested in Jared's work I can tell you the construction in the framework and liners are practically invisible, flush in all 3, the mill relief work around the joint is perfect and it showed up sickeningly sharp. I hope yall enjoy it as much as I do.

Ahhh, so you are the one who nabbed that!!!!

I stopped by J's house while I was down in Utah visiting family for vacation. I just missed seeing that knife, and pawing that beauty!

I am trying to come to terms with selling something to order another like that from him!!!!!

I have held a double handful of his knives (fixed and now his slip joints), and love everything he makes.

I hope to be able to get a folder, kitchen knife, and maybe a Muck all matching from him..... some day.

Finally a better pic of the GEC green bone Barlow:

When we were photographing it, I mentioned that I wanted to be able to show the green of the handles. My wife looked at me and said 'it's black'. Not until we downloaded the pics could she see the dark, dark green.

Oh yeah, this forum just got me again...2 Barlows on the way, I couldn't make the month with only the couple I had :D

Been carrying this guy for a few months now, prompting my Barlow TOTM vote. Love the way it carries so easily, yet fills the hand when using it.

Thanks bemo. It really is a nice knife. One of the few GEC mulitblades that doesn't allow the spine of the closed blade to dig into the hand during use. The small pen blade really disappears.

Hey! I can play! This month.

Ayup, #13. I like the older italicized serial #'s better than the newer ones. They seemed a little more subdued also....
