Traditional of the month: Stockman

Happy Fathers day to me, finally. My Case 3347 Stockman arrived. Some outfit or other got in a special order of them. I'd been looking for a spell for a CV 3 7/8" stockman.

SWEET KNIFE.
A 3-spring design, all the blades come out straight. My favorite.
3 7/8" closed - my favorite size.
CV alloy steel - Great stuff. (much preferred over Tru-Sharp)
Yeller handles - I like Delrin handles.
Spring strength just right. maybe a 4 on a scale of 10 with 5 being a Victorinox.
The Sheepsfoot doesn't stick out a mile.

This may displace all my other stockman knives for quite a spell.

Pictures to follow.

edited to add stock pic. I downloaded it to my machine, then uploaded to a hosting service. I'll try to get home before dark tomorrow and take my own pics. I'm getting to old to work these 12-hour days.

Yeah, I think you're the one who posted about it. That post made me go look for the source.

Knarfeng,

Now that's a good-looking knife! I'm glad you found one, as it meets your preferred specs so well.

I'm always surprised at how classy Case's yellow CV knives are.

I look forward to your pictures. If you could please get a shot from the top down, I'd love to see its width. I don't think I've seen a Case with three springs before.

Newest stockman in my pocket today, S&M Heritage premium. I know these haven't been favorites but I really can't find anything to complain about on mine except my dealer was out of the bone version and I got ebony. The pull and snap are good, it's sharp (not as sharp as it could be but there ya go) and there are no gaps anywhere. One quibble, the springs aren't perfectly flush when open, but I can barely catch a nail there, and they're flush when closed so no pocket lint will get in.
I like it :D

One of these days I gotta learn to take a good knife photo.

Even with three springs, it's no thicker than a 2-spring stockman.
Here it is next to my 2-spring Camillus-made Remington.

Congrats on the new knife, and thanks for the comparison, I was wondering if the three springs were bulkier, that's nice three straight blades, and no extra bulk. I have a five blade Moore Maker with three springs and you know it's in the pocket.

Thanks for the head-to-head thickness comparisons Frank. That is good knowledge to have, because when you first mentioned it being a three spring knife I thought, "Well, I'll never get one of those -- too wide." Nice to know I was wrong.

Here´s a pic of the Buck 303 (thanks again Sitflyer) while using the strop ... just wanted to share the pic ;)

Well, the stockman month is almost over, it's been fun to make myself carry just the stockman, and it proved to be a good choice, handling everything with flying colors.
Thanks to seelow123 for starting this, hopefully, new tradition on our forums, thanks to yablanowitz for a very generous traditional of the month giveaway, and thanks to all for participating and keeping this alive. Hope it was fun, that we all learned a thing or two, and even carried some knife that otherwise would have just stayed on a shelf.
The idea for this is a great way to try new patterns, perhaps even learn what we actually need and use, and not last, to carry more knives and decide on what we like best, well, if not now, maybe next month :D
If this continues, and the months remain as now, as in June for stockman, May for peanut...or we'll change them every time..remains to be seen.
Thanks again to all.

While I didn't participate, this thread nudged my to get my first LARGE stockman. I got an amber bone Case with cv blades. It is a nice size. Large knives pocket easier than medium sized knives for me, and I like the extra blade length and purchase for the hand.

Nice jacktrades, I clicked on when I saw you posted, and was going to ask if you had attempted anymore peach pits, I have to start up again, I have a backlog of pits, I'll be busy all winter if my wife keeps eating peaches everyday.
