Traditional treasure hunt picture game

Barrett, @btb01 , How about this? Cuban (Cohiba Habana, Cuba) with a cigar pattern on a Cuban humidor box. Sadly, I am trying to rescue this one was a gift to someone who does not smoke cigars, so it got dried out. Not sure if it is too far gone.

You’ve got it, well done! You’re up!

(Hopefully your cigar can be saved!)

Edit: Sorry, JB! Looks like we were typing at the same time and I ended up burying your post with the next request on the previous page, so I’ll quote it here at the top of page 20.

Thank you sir. How about either an indoor fireplace or outdoor fire pit in use, with some kindling?

What I'm shooting for is a fire going (but not the flame on a gas stovetop or a bic lighter), with a minimum of two wooden handled traditionals - all in one pic.

Thank you @btb01 . That may or may not be the only one, but I didn't want to get carried away....

The sliced carrot idea is interesting to me, thank you @Jolipapa . As of now, they have already been in one of my humidors for over a year. I use the Boveda packs and a shot glass w distilled water. I appreciated the gesture from the person who gave them to me, but they were in rough shape when I got them. Maybe I'll give one a try this week and report back.

Here you have a Valley Forge and LF&C Jacks in front of the fire (the funny colored light in the back.) I'd have done one outside but it's raining like crazy as we have a pretty good storm building tonight.

I'd like to see a factory single blade on a Congress pattern with a hand-blown glass Christmas bulb.

Here's a better shot of the knives.

@eisman . Those are marvelous, I enjoy reading your posts (like the Chief Cutlery thread); thank you for sharing.

This is just my opinion, but I think a recently implemented "rule" has sucked the fun out of this thread. During the first week or so, I was able to participate three times (not including Darth Tater) and twice more I could have participated, but wanted to let others have a chance. Since then, there hasn't been a single request I could do. While I agree that the knife and other object should be in the same photo to prevent someone who has one or the other from going on the Internet and getting a photo of what they don't have, I think the "rule" that you must have the actual objects like a real car instead of a die cast or plastic model eliminate almost everyone. I've noticed participation in this thread had dropped way off since this new "rule" was implemented.

Let me give an extreme example. If I requested a yellow Buck 301 single blade Stockman in the same photo with an antique Christmas ornament, I could do it, but probably nobody else in this forum could. If I requested any Buck 301 with any Christmas ornament, that would be a completely different story.

Again, this is just my opinion and yours is almost certainly different. :D

To be fair its fine line to make something a good challenge and something that's almost impossible. I appreciate a good honest challenge, but a little flexibility is good to. Lets not get discouraged,I'm still looking forward to a challenge I can meet, just to issue another myself. For as much the fun of coming up with a clever challenge as much as to claim a prize.

There actually is a rule (stated) in the original post that the "requests" should not be too specific. I haven't said anything because I've already been called out a couple of times for trying to keep things on the up-n-up. So, I've just been spectating lately and hoping it gets back on path.

In my mind it's too easy to just print a picture of the "requested" object, but it's too difficult when somebody "requests" a tree that only grows in a particular region, or a cigar that's illegal for most of us to buy. I enjoyed it when we got creative and were not too particular and more people were involved.

I'm hoping this can get re-booted with more specific guidelines, it really was a lot of fun and I even donated a couple of knives to the prize pool.

Exactly. That's one of the reasons it was so fun at first.

I agree completely. We must have both items in the same photo or someone with neither could just find a photo of each online and post them together.
