Trio Thursday

Thank God we got some youngsters who're still willing to get down and dirty to keep the legacy of traditional craftsmanship. :triumphant:

Though I love my GBs, we definitely need more high quality American made axe!

Thanks; Its a custom made by an awesome 18yo blacksmith out of NC (Liam Hoffman)

Nope, Liam will be doing a little spa on it -- he did a very slick custom grind on the bit, but it was a little on the thin side; which did not necessarily take to frenetic chopping during a downpour to make firewood. None the less, it will be good as new in a few weeks! :D Here's a pic of it new

Now that I think of it, Whitty @ USAMadeBlade had a few of Liam's pieces a while back..Not sure if they're still there

I looked through a bunch of photos to find some trio shots. It made me realize how much change there has been in my collection since the start of the year. I need to post an updated collection photo soon.

Here is what I discovered in regards to my trio photos:

All three of these are gone…

All three of these are gone…

All three of these are gone…

Finally some good news. All three of these remain…

It is a Swedish (Swiss?) Army hatchet that was from a run customized by Bark River. I don't see any more in stock at the dealer (DLT Trading) that I bought it from.

ohhhhhh DLT recently did a refinishing of a Wetterlings axe (I forget the model name) but I think it was with their ~20" handle correct? I was actually tempted to buy it when they were available, but I already for an axe at that size, so decided to be smart about it. Looks pretty sweet, I thought for a second it may be Council Tool premium stuff based on the head, but the handle didn't look like a CT. Enjoy!

Is that their small Forest (or Forest, I can't remember the model name) Nathan?

It's the Small Forest Axe, sometimes abbreviated SFA but that gets confusing with their Scandinavian Forest Axe which is longer (19" vs 25").

Great setup Nathan! The color on the BC really pops, and you can't beat the SFA.

Sorry guys I lied yesterday, couldn't post after work as I didn't get back until 11PM due to some issues at work (though I came back to a wonderful surprise).

So here's my new trio. As the summer is coming to an end, I'm resting my GB Outdoor Axe and Bushcrafter to rest, and in comes the trusty GB SFA (Mine's also made by AS! Although I've ordered about 5 of these when I was shopping for them two years ago, the other 4 returned due to poor grain patter, and most seemed to be made by him) and Sneaky Pete in Maple Burl, 1/8", SFT.
