My youngest son is going elk hunting in a couple weeks. We went out shooting today. I thought I better share a gun pic with you guys...

He drew the East cascade youth hunt. Took him 4 years to draw it. Nice shooting! Looks like your ready!

This is a fun little jig to use. I keep small cordage cut offs in my fishing kit just for things like this.

I like the weedless you use.

Finally watched this, and its genius. Ends up like a little rooster tail. I would love to post in here, but its been a loooooong time since I last went fishing unfortunately.

Yeah things should fire up pretty soon. Ten days to bear season and 25 days to bow season!! Almost as bad as waiting for knives

Maryland bow season is right around the corner, ususally late august or early september.

Dove season is also the end of august.

What do you do to prep your hunting grounds? I plan on scouting the duck spots soon and clearing out some trails and spots for blinds.

My pasture is my hunting grounds, so I scout it year round. Sometimes I'll go hunt with my father or my brother in-law.

Thanks, I love that spot. It can be a butt-kicker at times though. How do you guys do your deer hunting? (tree stand, still hunt, spot-and-stalk?)

Tree stands, ground blinds ( natural brush/ cover), and stands. I have done it but spot and stalk is not a strong suit of mine
