Trophy Room - Hunting and Fishing Pics

Thanks Texas! Here is a new spinning reel that I got today. It is a "budget build " ultralight that I am going to use for trout. My 7' medium-heavy with 15 lb flouro on a 4500 size reel (built for catfish/bass) is a bit overkill for little rainbows and browns.

The rod is a cheap 6' ultralight that I had laying around. The reel is a 1000 size Shimano Sienna. They go for $30 or so, and are the best budget reel out there. My little bro has their 4000 size on his general purpose bass outfit and it has held up well. Even when cranking stubborn catfish out of the heavy grass at our local pond.

I use the USA made St. Croix rods and pair them with a shimano stradic. They are my favorite.

Cute trout!! Brown trout can get huge. MD record is 18+ pounds.

Unless you want to hike several miles, there aren't many great trout spots here. I love hiking, but I don't have a bunch of time for it.

I like to hit up a local pond/stream between work and classes.

St. Croix rod are excellent! Just a little pricey for my college sized budget.

Understandable! I was just busting your chops about the fish. Any catch is a good catch.

I believe both the Premier and the Avid series are made in America. The Triumph are not.

Greetings from the East Coast of Canada!

I just thought I would add a few pictures to the thread.

A nice 10 point I got in New Brunswick several years ago. One of the most symmetrical racks I've seen.

An 11 point I got in Nova Scotia. He must have been a fighter as most of his antlers were damaged or broken.

And a moose I was lucky enough to harvest in the Cape Breton Highlands of Nova Scotia when I was finally lucky enough to draw a tag.

Ken, those are three very nice mounts! That rough buck is cool. My dad killed a 7x7 in Montana that looks like that, just busted up and gnarly. Thanks for sharing those.

Hooked something massive shark fishing from the shore lastnight. Got it within 30 yards of the beach and it broke my 20 pound test. I was so pissed. I wanted to get a pic for this thread. I will try again tonight.

What kind of kayak do y'all recommend. I don't really know what to look for, but my buddy and I was talking about at least renting them for a lil while just to try them on for size.

For coastal kayaking most people use sit-on-top yaks. I use an ocean kayak. It all depends on your price range and where you're planning on going with it.
