Trophy Room - Hunting and Fishing Pics

Thanks. I had three of them below me but missed the second one I saw. Just too dark out. I got the third one who stopped just a wee bit too long so I could put a Rage into his shoulders

Heck ya, I'd take it, too. That's a nice fish bud.

That's how I am right there, too, TT. Too bad we're all so scattered, it'd be fun to drown a worm together sometime.

Thanks for the scenery pics, too Grog, that looks like a great river for cats.

Amen to that HK. Years ago, I worked with a bunch of guys who were all outdoors people like us. Every year I'd plan a huge trip to a local lake and we'd all go spend the weekend camped out fishing. We had a few beers, a nice fire, and cooked some really good steaks on the pit. Some would bring boats and jet skis. It became a tradition after a few years and at one point we had about 20-25 people going. Needless to say we took over that camp9ing area. Good times.......

Nabbed this 18"er on the "One More Cast" at the end of the day while celebrating my wife and mine's anniversary.

While a couple pound bass isn't too big of a trophy the dinner prepared with it was!

Rubbed it down with ancho chillies, lemon, salt and pepper, a few dashes of worcestershire sauce. Then filled the cavity with celery stalks. Made for the perfect size meal for the wife and I. One of the bonuses of roasting fish whole are the cheeks!

Gotta love those "Just one more cast" catches, that's a nice bass and I've never seen one prepared like that. I've only saved cheek meat from walleye, might have to change that if they're good on bass also.

Been helping a few older folks and a few younger folks get some game caught. Nice young gal got to take this bear, and I got to use the 4.1 on it. (Sorry the pic is bad, my hands were full, and my buddy's cell camera is not so good).

Jumped a lion off a porcupine kill it had made. Here's the kill as it had left it the night before, covered up as cats will do.

Uncovered it and found that the lion had eaten most of it, with a little meat left down the back legs.

Pretty hot and dusty for chasing cats.....

After a couple hours 'cold' trailing in nearly 80F temperatures, an end to the trail.

It had been living pretty rough and you can see a few quills stuck in his head.

A good young boar, left to run again.

A nice bear taken by a first time hunter. This little gal did her job well and was pretty tickled to take one with such a nice blaze on it.

The 4.1 has got some use along with the 3.5 and this Swamprat.

Hot damn man! I won't hunt predators because I keep hoping they might smarten up and start taking people on a regular basis but those are some fabulous shots.

My biggest fish with Tenkara gear so far. Hiked up to Horn Lake in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness here in Colorado and caught this at around 11,800 feet altitude today...

That is a nice fish you have there. Especially with a Tenkara. I have been using a Tenkara this summer up in Yellowstone. I cant catch anything in the big rivers where all the other fly fishing guys fish. But I have found a few little tight rivers in the back country that I have luck with. I tend to do better around some cascades and pools with some good current to the water. But still the best I have caught has been maybe some 10" Rainbows and Browns.

Did you get yours in a lake or river?

LMAO. I may have to rethink my whole operation based on your logic :D

Looks like you had some fun HK. No tag for the Couger?

Season is on and it would have been a legal kill and we had tags, so no problem there. But I do a lot of predator control around the ranches out here, and we end up taking some necessarily (bear, lion, lots of coyote). If this one had been bothering stock, it would have been the last time he did so. But he was a good ways up in the hills making his own living, so we left him be after a few photos. They are beautiful animals, even with a few quills stuck in them, ha :) And I'm glad we got to appreciate this one for a bit.

Opening day of duck was today! Pops and I shot our limit of wood ducks but couldnt locate 2 of them. Oh well, it was a blast! Here are some pics!

Sides were roasted red pepper quinoa and brown rice and oven roasted butternut squash and red onions. PM me if anyone wants the recipe!
