get your assets in chat :D

I tried... But i guess im 5+ hours late

Well, I got a couple of packages in the mail today. Firsy and most importantly is my new BK4 from Dexwithers over at Coyle Outdoors. http://www.coyleoutdoors.com/ He's a great guy and really takes care of his customers so be sure and check him out!
I haven't even opened it yet but I will as soon as I get home in the morning. I'm really looking forward to stripping it and putting it to work soon.
The other was a new concealed carry holster from Bianchi. I haven't had a chance to try it out either but that is on the agenda for tomorrow too.
Sunday is shaping up to be a GREAT day!!!

Sweet scores! Until the RBK is in my hands the BK4 is my favorite becker. Gotta love the shape of the blade.... Except when its time to sharpen her up LOL

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think i offended someone by telling them that the BK9 and parangatang outchopped my new swamp rat Mountainmandu... But i dont give a $hit... They want lies they can watch PM101 HAHAHAHA!!

A guy sent me a message asking me about its performance.. Then when i told him the truth about its performance he got upset and actually had the nerve to suggest/blame me for its poor performance... Says maybe i was doing something wrong with the knife.... Poor form etc.... Sure thats what the (only) problem is, I doubt the geometry of the primary bevel and edge thickness has anything at all to do with it failing to bite deep.

I already sent that monster to be reground. It varied from .05-.09 behind the edge... Just way too thick for my uses. We are going for a 10 dps primary bevel with .035" behind the edge with a 15 dps V edge.... Gunna bite GOOD when she returns. I LOVE the looks and feel of it. The handle is super comfortable. Lots of potential. Just needs to be unlocked. Of course for the price one could argue it shouldn't need a regrind.... And i wouldnt argue against them either...

Doc, Had my first issue with my IM Corona Old boy lighter earlier.... Filled her up and she was taking a few strikes to light up, then once lit the flame was flickering... Emptied it, purged the tank, refilled it... And back to perfection. Must have had some air stuck in there.... But im not going to lie, for a few seconds i was feeling my blood pressure rise HAHA

Funny one of the main thing going through my mind at the time was the hard time id get from you about it :D

Some people are very passionate about their tools and the reputation behind them. Facts mean nothing ;) Why have a high performance steel blade not ground to its best potential? I'll bet they take into account human stupidity :D Full well knowing somebody is going to try to hammer that thing through a brick and they dont want the edge to roll _too much_.

Very true. They cant put thin 30° inclusive edges on choppers because there will be hundreds upset when they screw up the edge... And they will blame the knife, when really it's their technique that was wrong. Bad form ruins an edge more than anything else.

Risk to rewards. I want performance. To get the very best performance you have to take some risks. Its very possible at one point or another ill roll or chip the edge... Possible. But my comp cutter's edge is thinner, and around only 6° per side and i have yet to chip or roll that edge... And i have used it on hardwoods camping and all.

My properly tuned knives will always be the ones i use the most and the hardest. But if and when i do chip an edge on a blade tuned like this i wont blame the knife.

All that being said, if you ask me how something performs (for me, my opinion) im going to tell you... If a knife costing 3X the amount of the ones its being compared against fails to cut better in any category... well quite frankly there is just no excuse acceptable to me. I buy knives to cut stuff... I spend more to get ones that perform better. Not the reverse.

But hell maybe thats just me LOL :D

Exactly!

I'm hungry and I'm having a hard time deciding what to have for breakfast. Fried eggs on toast mmmm yep.

WW, that reminds me of people getting upset that a Mora out performs a lot of the high dollar cool maker of the week bushcraft knife. "But, it's just a mora".

Speak the truth!

Aww Wood, I wouldn't have to say squat. Remember, I paid that big price tag too. I hope yours never goes bad, and mine is just a lemon. Besides, you'd beat yourself up more than I ever could. Every time I see mine, it's just a hunnert dollar bill I could have bought a knife with.

Good luck with it.

Mora's outperform a LOT of high end knives. Every gear list we put together for a trip anywhere ends with "and a Mora".

Not my Aussie, my Rat Terrier. Thanks.

EDIT: Here's a pic of him. He's 11 in may, had him since I was 4. It sucks watching him get older.

Good looking dog! Hope the old guy is feeling better!

Geometry cuts. Doesn't matter if it's 420J or 1095CV or CPM3V or "proprietary" XYZ-123 forged in the bowels of a magical volcano.

Steel selection and HT only determine how long it keeps cutting.

I have never understood certain companies using high-end steel and costly heat-treat procedures, only to grind the knife like a damn splitting wedge. Unless of course your main claim to fame is being hard to break and bragging up people chopping concrete blocks, not actually cutting well....

this guy is smaht.

WW. I just watched the first episode of Dare Devil, and I know what your saying about his eyes. I will say though, that I think hes trying to portray that he use to be able to see. People born blind dont look at sounds, but people who have gone blind do. They cant help it. Unless they went blind very very young. By the age he lost his sight, it would already be ingrained in him to follow sound by turning his head and looking at his target. I have a sneaky suspicion that he or someone who coached him did a LOT of research on it, because people normally get this wrong, by trying to hard to not use their eyes at all. Great show so far. Nasty fight scenes. Love the fight coreography, and that the bad guys arent just paper targets for the hero.

Great news Noswad, glad to hear it!

Just scored some micarta scales for a full size Becker, now to decide if they are going on the 2, 4 or 5...
the 2 has more work done to it and it would look bad ass.
the 4 is getting its coating work stripped and the functionality would be a Great boon.
the 5 was stripped and thinned behind the edge, and may get a little better balance and more grip from the sanded micarta...

Decisions, decisions...

I saw the first season and it was pretty good!

Right now I'm watching Expendables 3. Funny... That's about all I can say about it.

Hell yea, Moras are damn good knives. I have a couple that gets used quite a bit. My wife also uses one in the kitchen sometimes.

I damn sure would of been upset, thats certain. It still HAS to last 2 years at a minimum before ill even start thinking it was a good investment. I love the lighter... But until it proves itself for a couple/few... MORE years i cant say it was worth the price.

Some people care more about whats written on paper than how it actually performs. And if whats written on paper is coupled with a high price tag it MUST mean it performs better, despite silly things like geometry...

That makes sense, IIRC it said he went blind at 9? so at that point his eyes would go towards sounds instinctively.

Well thought out sir :D

And i agree about the show and the fight scenes, they did a good job. I hate that i have to wait a full year to see what happens next though... By that time ill have to watch the first season again to remember what happened LOL... Least its not a difficult show to watch!
