Weird, ain't it? On the other hand, look at all the "cheap" adult beverages that have won major contests against both the big names and the super-boutique brands - that always gets people riled up
Heck, there was a bushcraft knife challenge not too long ago where the two fanciest, most expensive knives just blew up under normal use. That caused a bit of a stir, too.
Marketing "trade secrets", "exclusive materials" and how "overbuilt and tactical" a knife is can be a real successful business model though, no question about that. More companies than one have figured that out. More power to 'em. *shrug*
Some people care more about whats written on paper than how it actually performs. And if whats written on paper is coupled with a high price tag it MUST mean it performs better, despite silly things like geometry...
