Slow day at work, supervisor ended up taking a couple of the warehouse guys across the street to Georgetown Brewing for an extended break, got to taste a few brews and ended up getting a growler, good times.

Man, I love that place!
They make a few excellent beers!
Lucky dawg you...

The question is: .45-70 or .454 Casull?

well, S&W makes that .460... which can do .460, .454 casul, and .45 long colt in one gun...

for a BFG, i'd want something amusing, like 7.62x54R, as a companion to the Mosin

though .45-70 would be good as a companion to a lever gun

Figured you'd appreciate. It was my first time tasting any of their product, ended up getting Lucille to go 'cuz that was quite delectable.

After a LOOOOOT of time mental optimizing, I finally decided that having a revolver and carbine in matching calibers was actually a disadvantage to ME.

Consider the following:

1) I handload
2) I like subsonic lead or subsonic 180gr XTP loads in my .357
3) I would want Lil' Gun-powered 158gr super loads in my carbine
4) I have one set of .357 dies
5) Different impact velocities demand different bullets, different loads require different powders (little efficiency gained)
6) either constantly reset the .357 dies or buy two sets, which would then be a risk for confusion and ka-boom
7) main desire for .357 lever is to make it perform like a .30-30 w/ more rounds
8) I'd never want to mix/match those two rounds, and doing so would mess up sight calibration

Conclusion: want .30-30 performance? buy one, buy a set of .30-30 dies, bullets, and powders. No risk of ammo confusion.
So my ideal pairing is a .357 blackhawk with heavy subsonics and a .30-30 with 150gr Sierra softpoints.

I would like an N-frame in 38-40 with matching lever gun & high wall clone.
a LAR Grizzly "1911" chambered in 38-40 to go with the ensemble would be gravy.

How about a 1911, moon-clipped L-frame, and mini-14 all in .38-super.

Alright! I just won a Nick Allen Sierra Scout over at BCUSA! Looks like a real sweet blade.

I was looking at the .454 because they make it in a shorter cylinder so it's a normal sized revolver. The .460 is a long round for a handgun so they had to put it in the long frame, same as the .45-70. The .45-70 is just cool though.

I bought an SAA clone in .357, I don't plan to get rid of it but I think it's heavy for a six-shot .357 and the Blackhawk is even bigger (unless it's the flat top model). From now on it's .44's or .45's through my single actions and .357 will be in double actions sized for them. That is unless Ruger makes a 7 or 8 shot Blackhawk.

.38-40 ain't my bag but that would still be a cool setup.

You're gonna talk me right outta my knickers. Jerry Miculek has a smith L-frame that he had a new cylinder made for in .38super for moon clips that is one of his competition guns.

That's probably my favorite of theirs.
I found a little restaurant here in town that has it on tap.
It's a spendy little joint, but a good place to take the wife now and again.

I got contacts the other day and I'm still trying to get use to them, however I'm not sure I prefer them over glasses

Screw them both, get a consult for laser eye surgery  one of the best investments in myself I've ever made!

Of COURSE I have the 50th Anniversary Flattop. ;)

Now imagine the same set in .41mag, but swap the 1911 for a Blackhawk...
*swoon*

Never heard of it til your post. Might be fun, but would probably never beat out horseshoes or washers here in Texas.

It's a lot of fun and strategy. Can play with probably up to 4 players on each team with each throwing once. There's even official US and international tournaments. Some day imma craft my own set. Cool thing is you can just make a set out in the woods.

We play with the start of every game we gather around the king, take a shot of whiskey, and pour a shot on the king. Mandatory. Usually reserve the rot gut for the king though lol
