Classic Firearms has some in stock. Gonna place my order when I get paid. Supposed to be a not-sucky Mosin so I'm looking forward to trying one out. Current prices on regular Mosins are ridiculous. Carcanos are cheap though. Get you one.
 
So whilst camping last week, we had a couple of gnarly thunderstorms roll thru. Afterwards, while chatting with the park ranger, he mentioned a couple of trees on the trails nearby got hit by lightning. So I packed the dog up to take a look.











Found a couple. Pretty cool. Glad I was on the other side of the campground during the storm.

the finnish stuff is superb. a slap in the face of the best mosins.

dunno about carcanos. i just want a standard K98 in pristine :D with bayonet.

There's a pine tree across from my property that got hit by lightening a couple weeks ago. It looks like it spiraled around the tree a little. Looks cool.
 
Started lifting again. Benched Monday night, back last night, then 2 hours of swimming = I'm not as young as I once was. Getting ready to go do legs. Yee haw.
 
Getting pumped up for hunting this year. Since Amanda and I got our new bows it has been game on! Been doing a lot of scouting and going to try to get a bear or two by baiting. To those of you that have baited black bear, do you have any tips, ideas, do's or don'ts?

I plan on creating a bait site this weekend and any advice would be great.

whale skeleton was the tipping point in a very strange scifi short story contained in the "beyond the rift" collection

the very first story in that book is about "the thing" from the movie of the same name, from its point of view ;)

by the game warden i mean

there's a period of time when it's not legal to bait no more, so, yeah don't do that :D

I have only known about it for a couple weeks. Was thinking about picking up another scout slingshot and seen the hammer... Soon as i seen the bowfishing attachment i had to have it. Not sure if it'll replace my recurve for bowfishing, but the fact i CAN use it for both slingin and shootin fish made it a must buy.

It'll take some practice to dial in. Im not great with a regular bow as is, but i got pretty decent shooting the scout slingshot. Its possible ill do better with the slingbow than the recurve... But im not holding my breath LOL

Kids are starting school next week.... Which will open up a lot of time for me. Means more fishing, and more time to practice with the new toy.




Took the kids fishing yesterday. Didnt last long, between the mosquitoes and it starting to rain they were ready to go after about an hour. But they both still had smiles on their faces that wasnt from video games or TV. A win in my book.

We gotta teach our children to catch FISH... NOT POKEMON :D

Every fisherman down here has had that look on their face at one time or another, half happy and half pissed it turned out to be a damn Mudfish!! :D

They got casting down pretty good but still occasionally send the line up in a tree and get hung. Hell i occasionally do too so no biggie, but im going to attempt to teach them the palomar knot before the next trip out so they can tie their own hooks on from now on.

No clue about bear but i know in GA its illegal to bait deer, here in FL you can have feeders out. Might be OK in his state ??
