Thanks for the help with the recap on the ad and Jerry's edited posts.
Thanks to you any many others for following the thread from the start till now as I'm sure its almost run its course. I really don't have much else to say other than, Thanks to the moderators for deciding to leave the thread open as long as they did. It got a bit boring and redundant after awhile but there was still a little bit of a story there until the end......if you were patient and looked hard enough.
Last but not least Thanks to Jerry for a lesson well learned. I learned a lot about quite a few good people on here and for only $300.00. What a bargain!

Seems a waste that this had to happen,5 pages of drama and unnecessarily bad feelings over a ten minute fix . Sounds to me like everything could have been made right with with a wrench to tighten the pivot and a little sandpaper.Much less effort than all this.
 
he says in his last post , that people told him not to speak badly of me or underdog , or our friends will gang up on him :confused: newsflash mike , i only posted in this thread originally , to let people know about my deals with jerry - all of which were fine . if you do a gbu post search on the mike aos- underdog deal that went sour , you can see that first mike aos says im a "good guy" then after i criticize him for being a "liar" i became "bad" guess what - my gbu record says it all -100% GOOD :eek: MIKE AOS LIED REPEATEDLY !!!!i offered to buy the MAYO TNT HAWKBILL IN QUESTION mike aos said he would do nothing till i spoke with him next night when i called him , he already gave jerry a bad gbu post and sent the knife to tom mayo , i had no problem with it other than HE LIED !!!! then he proceeds to tell me the only reason he offered to deal with me was to get back at me and had no intention of ever dealing with me again - i could care less , but the fact is MIKE AOS IS A BIG LIAR !!!! im posting this only because mike aos is a sneak and a liar and posted untrue statements in his last post about me in this thread . more people like to gang up on me rather than defend me :( so , mike aos do me a favor , keep my name out of your mouth , unless you got something truthfull and good to say about me , understand ??? again i will not defend nor villify jerry , but will speak honestly about our dealings !!!! they were all good !!!!thanx :) JAXURMAN

Without that you don't have very much.IMO this has gone beyond being sad.You truly are only as good as your word.
 
This thread has ceased to be productive any longer. The message is loud and clear. the whole deal on BF is HONOR. It does not and should not matter if you are a Cop, a farmer, or a Landscaper pushing a Lawnmower. You must be a Man of your word and live an honorable life or you aint worth SH*T.

This thread has spun another about COPS being honest. This has NOTHING to do with COPS being honest. This has to do with JERRY being honest. Jerry says he is a cop, big deal. Cops are no different than any other profession. We cry, we laugh, we bleed, we die, and some LIE.
Mike and Randy dislike COPS. Thats great boys, now STFU. If this is Jerry's style he does NOT represent Law Enforcement, he represents a POS member of Blade Forums.
There is nothing "political" or "job related" in this entire thread. It is simply another knife deal where one member of BLADE FORUMS was dishonest in his dealings with another member. He is forever a POS for stepping over the line and throwing his integrity, honor and credibility in the sewer.

Afterall, WE ARE ALL only as good as our word, irrespective of what we do for our paychecks..............Ira

That is a joke seems like those guys nailed this situation down pretty well.
 
...but what was the final resolution to the 'situation' with this 'knife deal gone bad'...anyone?

Thanks for your interest. There was no resolve. Jerry's reaction to everyone's responses here probably helped clinch what he had already decided on. Jerry had 1 thing in mind when he sold me that knife and that was to get rid of something that he had screwed up. In my opinion his now deleted posts exposed the lie little by little as the thread continued on. Most of the other people who posted seemed to agree that it was obvious that Jerry had done something underhanded and was lying about it. The question I have is this and I ask it only because I want to fully understand the enviroment here. Shouldn't Jerry be banned from here for cheating another member and then getting caught lying about it.In my opinion maybe I still wasn't able to make it totally obvious as to what happened. If it was obvious, what would cause a memeber to get banned other than trolling? Would I feel somewhat reprieved if he was......Sure I would. I was cheated. In my opinion that would be a solution and proper closure on a deal gone bad.

That Underdog is a cop merely REINFORCES my suspicion that they are bad as a whole. It's not the sole reason. As someone so elegantly put it "I'm not surprised".

As far as Jack. Folks, here's the real story. I'm actually surprised Jack keeps bringing it up. He approached me about a trade -- a Boguszewski single-liner Wegner ($300), a Spyderco Wegner Jr. ($75), a Spyderco mouse ($75) and a Sastre moustrap ($25) -- $475 total for a Duncan Whiplash, EXACTLY like the one on Les Robertsons page ($450) and $25 cash. Seemed perfectly fair. I found where Jack bought a Whiplash for $250 off the forum and told him before the deal that I did NOT want that one. Period. No way. He assured me it wasn't that one.

Well guess what? It was that one! I e-mailed him immediately. He said it was an honest mistake, and would send me a BRAND NEW Spyderco Viele ($180 value) to make up for it. I accepted.

What I got was an old-stock (AUS-8), dusty, rusty, cruddy Viele in a beat-up box. Nice blade, but it had apparently been sitting, un-cared-for, for years.

I chalked it up to experience and moved on.
 
OK, in the deal with Underdog, he clearly lied about the length of the blade. Then he refused to take it back.

Jack, being the sort of guy he is, called me at home and gave me a VERY high-pressure pitch, saying he really wanted to help out. Win-win for everyone. He'd be HAPPY to take Mayo off my hands. And any other knives I had laying around. Just being a pal.

Having dealt with him before, I had NO INTENTION of doing so again. I've also dealt with used-car-salesman types like that before. For better or for worse, I just say "uh huh, yeah, sounds good, yep, sure, uh huh" until they get tired of talking. I freely admit I had no intention of dealing with him again. No way. I also made a point to NOT commit to anything. I didn't make any promises. In retrospect I should have been more up-front with Jack and told him what I _really_ thought of him. I thought I was taking the "politically correct" way out by humoring him.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion but this thread was never about Jerry being a cop. I only mentioned it in my original post because Jerry seemed to want to make me aware of it as if he was above reproach. Jerry is a dishonest and dishonorable Man. He just happens to be a cop. Across the board general statements that tend to lump any group together are ill-informed and over-simplistic. If all cops are dishonest I don't think that so many of them that responded to this thread would have posted as they did. Creative thinkers and intelligent men should always avoid these type of "Lump Them All Together" type of statements. It is a sign of ignorance and undue malice and most of us really know better. Policemen have the ability to become immensely popular with these same type of people immediately when they really need one. A real Friggin magic trick isn't it? Let's try to stay grounded here and stick to Jerry the guy who cheated me not Jerry the cop. Unfortunately Jerry happens to be dishonest and a cop but one is not synonamous with the other.In my opinion one has nothing to do with the other.

Agree 100%. Seriously. I never really felt strongly either way. He did make it a point to tell me he was a cop as well.

I think you have the right approach...get it fixed, resell it, move on.

Yes, I think you got burned, and I believe your story...but it's still just 'your story vs. his', and that's all it's ever going to be.

Again, all of us, at least 95% of us, believe you, and agree with you, but there's not much we can do about it...other than not deal with Jerry. I sure won't.

My advice to you would be, bookmark the thread, and bring it up whenever you feel it's appropriate...but don't let it eat you up bro, most of us are more honest than that.

I feel for ya Tim, I traded $1000 worth of Randall's for 2 rare 'Mint' Applegate/Fairbairn's on Bladeauctions, and took a hit too...they weren't mint, and I'll probably lose $400 when I sell them.

Mike, as to Jack, he has his moments...and can make a left turn (change his mood) faster than anyone I know...other than myself.

I agree with your description of the 'high pressure' dealings he does, and I've stated before, if a person isn't COMPLETELY comfortable with the way the transaction is going, then stop it dead...just say 'NO'...

The problem is, most people can't say no...but that's their problem, not Jack's.

My dealings with Jack all went 'as advertised'...yes, I was pissed too, because I felt that I'd given more than I'd received, but that was my problem...I could have stopped the deal(s), but I didn't, and 'buyer's remorse' doesn't mean diddly squat if the knives were as described...in my case they all were.

So, if you still feel that you have an honest beef, and think there is some way to resolve it, say by asking for cash back from Jack, then ask. If he says no, then don't deal with him again...and keep making these types of posts, that's your right.

Tim, I for one really appreciate your candor, and level headed posts. I hope you'll stick around bud, you'll find out that there are some great folks here. Most of us are pretty darn honest.

The shame is, you found one that wasn't, and for that I'm truly sorry.

My comments weren't meant entirely for you. It's just that it seems that due to me mentioning the fact that Jerry stated that he was a cop in my earlier posts it has given a few misguided souls the forum in which to begin a little cop bashing. I'd like to see a few of these people sit down and explain their misguided philosophy to the wives and children of those heroes that lost their lives on 9/11 trying to save as many people as they could without regard to their own safety. Ironically enough I'll sure bet a few of those people that they were trying to save didn't like cops either. All of a sudden I feel kinda foolish about my little $300 knife deal gone bad.

I couldn't agree with you more and with the risk of sounding like I'm blowing smoke up your A$$ I think you're 100% correct. I already feel that "most" of the people on here are honest to a fault if that's possible. I have moved on but I feel obligated to respond to others that want to know if things worked out. I did after all start the post and everyone's been so good at following this thread it wouldn't be fair to leave anyone hanging. When everyone quits responding I'll quit posting on this thread also. If anyone wants to help me get un pi$$ed give me a show of hands. Who won't do business with Underdogizhere whether he's still on here or not.
