I bought a knife from a member here. The package arrived with nothing but packing paper and a small piece of white paper that said "Priority Dispatch" on one side and the other side had 3 lines with check mark boxes. The first 2 boxes were check marked, saying the package was empty and the package was un secured. I will post pics when I get home to my computer.

unfortunately for the seller, if the sale is domestic he is responsible for the contents until in the hands of the buyer.

I paid with paypal. $130 for a BM3550BLK.

It looks like the sender didn't use ANY tape when folding the box. The sticky flap was half covered with packing paper and the other half was barely sticky.

I agree with this. The seller owes you a knife or a refund.Should've got insurance.

His feedback is 100% positive. I sent him PM's with the pics so hopefully he can remedy the problem.

I had a scare once when USPS failed to scan a package that was outgoing. It arrived fine, but after that, I always buy insurance.

And hopefully he will learn from this,,,call me overprotective, but I always wrap duct tape all around my Priority boxes like a madman(better safe than sorry).
Also if its over $50 I usually get insurance as well.

Every now and then I notice a screw-up or theft by wayward USPS employees, I would not entirely rule the employees out of the picture.

Well, statistically I was about due for something like this to happen.

In the past I've gotten a couple of the small priority boxes that had finger sized holes in them. They didn't get there on accident . Fortunately the contents were wrapped enough, the knives wouldn't come out the hole....
I hope you get this worked out CM...

Interestingly I think there is some kind of sub-culture in the USPS, I've had several packages come through them with "the holes" as well, and the vibe was the same, as in they did not get there by accident. One package was almost ripped in half, with THEIR tape taping it up. Cockroaches.

UPS / Fedex I never had any issues with.

Me neither. Then again UPS & Fedex don't have the federal government by their side like the USPS.

my experience has been the opposite.

hundreds of packages through usps, and not one arrived damaged and/or missing contents.

fedex ground (i know, different than fed ex) took a small sebenza. my friend had ups take a wilson combat pistol.

i have had more consitent delivery times with usps as well. priority takes 4 days at most.

with ups i have had packages take two weeks to arrive to or from a domestic address.

By the way, my experience is from the Northeast and hasn't counted since I moved away from there the last few years. I've also used USPS the most, much more than UPS and Fedex even less, to 'correct the sample, in scientific terms, but even so that's what I saw.

Maybe they know you're a LEO?
