UPDATE Hinderer Full Track Lock Stick

I use a pencil and just color in the area of the tang of the blade, where the lockbar engages it on my knives that had lock stick. Play with it for a while and it will be hard, to make it stick.
Think that’s been tried a long with a sharpe . That works great on some but depending how bad it is not so good on others .

Yeah, sticky locks suck. I had an Eklipse that I brought brand new and it had the most horrid lock stick I'd ever experienced. Tried everything, sharpie, pencil, disassembly and cleaning with alcohol, but nothing helped it. I was getting what felt like galling of the two dissimilar metals. Put it in my dresser for months. Pulled it out one day and voila, the lockstick was gone! Strange one that was!

Wow, been playing my other knives tonight - ZTs n what not.
Cannot believe how jacked up my thumb is from that damn FullTrack!
Thumb is WRECKED.
Every other knife feels like a little kid toy compared to the force needed to manipulate that FullTrack.
They really need to redesign the lock arm on that thing - it really is unnecessarily stiff.
Now I’m second guessing sending it in to Hinderer vs just getting a freakin refund.
Maybe try again once they fix the freakin thing.

Could it be its the way the knives were tuned or built at hinderer? I mean when the frame lock side is cut on the CNC machine they are flat. Then the guy assembling the knife has to bend the lock bar to set the correct -tension. I think the lock-bar stabilizer could be removed and the lock-bar slightly bent to relieve some of the tension. I know a $600.00 dollar knife should arrive perfect. My large Sebenza was the same way didn't have lock stick but I couldn't unlock the blade but a couple times and my thumb would give out, also it would not flip several different people tried it.
I carried it a couple weeks and it didn't get any better. I got pissed and pushed the lockbar WAY out and wow it was a different knife! It will flip open Zero blade play and will survive a hard spine whack on my boot. It was as if someone had handed me another knife.. I'm sure the knife could be dissembled and adjust the lock bar in small increments and tuned to ones liking, I got extremely lucky that I didn't screw my Sebenza up.
Damn, you must have been pretty pissed off to do that to a Sebenza. Glad it worked for you. Now, who will be the first to do it to a Full Track? Now you’ve got me curious.

Lol that’s what I’m worried about. All of a sudden a new and improved version 2.
Yes but I bet Hinderer will hook you up:thumbsup:Just don’t send them a email  or you might be waiting a while lol . I want a 24 now but after not hearing back from them after asking for assistance with the “ThumbTrack”kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth a long with sore thumbs o_O
Luckily for me I was still under the 14 day return time frame and as usual DLT prevailed with there stellar customer service and assistance.
That means more to me well almost more to me then the knife itself .

Maybe a CRK large Inkosi Insingo might happen instead . Had one a while back and loved it , very nice craftsmanship for sure . I’ve got a Spydie Millie on the way Sporting Rex45 so my machete knife desire will be covered lol .

I’ve read quite a few posts where people have said they don’t answer their email. That’s not good. I can definitely understand that leaving a bad impression. I love their knives, but if this turns into a crap show there are many other makers that I like and know their knives are great 99% of the time. There has to be a huge percentage of returns of this knife. If it wasn’t a big number, I don’t think DLT would have pulled the entire line from their site. I’m sure curious and anxiously waiting to hear what comes from all of this. One thing is for sure and that is you can’t fault DLT for this.

I have a large Inkosi with black micarta and a PJ 21 with insingo blades. Love them both and definitely prefer that blade shape on CRKs.

I was leaning towards a red g10 24 just to be different and can always change the scale later but it sold out now at DLT .
I decided to go with a credit instead of refund and stay will DLT because I really like them . But that limits me to there stock on hand when they receive the ThumbTrack back and get my store credit on the boards . Will see what they have in stock then I guess and see if I jump ship on Hinderer and go CRK or if something else catches my eye between now and then :D

Lol you keep saying that and that ThumbTrack name is going to stick (no pun intended, but it works) :p

Oh I was I had wanted a crk for years and then it wouldn't flip, I couldn't close it, the thumb stud hurt like hell. I tried to carry it a let it break In but it didn't make any difference. I knew who ever built the knife had put way to much tension on the lock bar, I also that titanium would bend back and forth without breaking, so I gave her hell and voila I had a awesome knife!
I have a boker Excalibur that I've adjusted a couple times and haven't had any problems. I may be wrong, but I think in the YouTube video showing the tour of Hinderer knives that the guy building them is shown adjusting the lockbar by bending it. Someone go watch part 2 and see? By the way my small sebenza and hinderers have all been perfect..

I’d give their warranty a shot.
I have a Half Track with a issue. It took about a week but I got an email response asking me to send it in. The knife got to them Monday and they emailed me the same day saying they received it.

That's great that it worked for you. Now I'm going to go check out that video. You're giving me ideas, but I must resist the temptation to try that:)

Ok, so maybe this will help someone out. This seems like common sense to me (the higher you go, the less force is needed), but it's made a huge difference. My knife has never once had a sticky lock. I've flipped it hundreds of times and it's never did it once. My only nitpick was a very strong detent when releasing the lock to close the knife. My natural instinct was to push with my thumb about 1/2 way up the groove on the lock bar. That's just where my thumb fell naturally when holding the knife since it is rather large. On my XM-18 3.5"s, I noticed my thumb naturally went right up close to where the lock bar meets the blade since it's a smaller knife. I just adjusted my grip and tried it with my thumb up higher to where the lock bar meets the blade and it's now buttery smooth lock bar time for me :) I just tried it out counting 50 times and this made a big difference. No more Full Track thumb and I'm loving this knife even more now.
