UPDATE Hinderer Full Track Lock Stick

Dammit, count me in, as well. All was fine until 10 minutes ago. Now it won't unlock without using two hands. I sent a message to DLT and will see what they say. It's been longer than 14 days since I ordered it.

^^Figured that out on day one. Gotta choke way up to to the top of the bar.
What I never tried, was bending the bar...
I figured it would screw up the detent tension...
Gotta get the lock stick fixed first.

Oh man that sucks and sorry to hear that but it might be a blessing in disguise since it happened sooner then later . Mine never really had lock stick except maybe a touch when it was new .
Just a horribly stiff lock bar . My thumbs still hurt lol hope I don’t have nerve damage on my thumbs  lol.
Also noticed like you it helped depending we’re you put your thumb on the bar but it was still teeth grinding hard to release anyway. The only way it was easier and bearable was the two handed procedure.

So sorry man that really sucks, I'm sure dlt will take care of you. If not I know Rick will get it fixed up

I’d give their warranty a shot.
I have a Half Track with a issue. It took about a week but I got an email response asking me to send it in. The knife got to them Monday and they emailed me the same day saying they received it.
It’s going on two weeks for me and no reply from Hinderer . To late now it’s on the way back to DLT

I want to re-iterate that the amount of knives actually impacted is small. It is a very small percentage and number of knives that have come back with an issue, and we have not been able to find knives in the back with the same issue. However we also are not going to open every knife back there and flip them a bunch of times to test them, as I am sure most of you would not appreciate receiving a "New" knife with miles on it. The nature of the problem only showing up after quite a few flips and looking fine on initial inspection is why we took them down, we don't want anyone to receive a knife that they won't be happy with.

I want to stress as well, that due to the lockbar geometry of the Full Track the lockbar will always feel stiff, its the nature of where the relief is cut. So it can feel a little sticky even if its not actually sticking.

In the end this will be a minor issue for the Full Track, we have full confidence that Hinderer will find the issue on the knives that have the lock stick, fix it, and resume work on this fantastic knife design.

The Fulltrack is a wonderful knife and if they ever resolve the issue and also have a lockbar that doesn’t destroy your thumbs even without lock stick I’d get another in a heartbeat.
I liked it so much I almost kept it anyway and that says a lot.
Edit: On a side note I’ve found a temporary replacement A CRKT Pilar that has a lockbar smooth as butter, still rock solid and thumb friendly for 39.95
Oh and D2 blade steel :D

I agree that it’s better it happened now instead of later. I don’t get it. It’s like these are time bombs just waiting to go bad. Everything was fine and then it just locks up now.
I just found this video. Look how easily opening and closing the knife is for him. Mine was never like that.

So True mine had a little lock stick in the beginning and it went away . I was hoping that’s why the lockbar was so stiff but unfortunately it was in the design instead .
That’s funny I also went threw all the videos on reviews again like prior to my purchase and saw no such thing . Although on one viewed with Rick Hinderer him self While he was sipping on a fine beverage He didn’t open and close it many times and if I remember correctly he used the two hand method a time or two ;)
Could be wrong though as I’ve researched crowbar lock tension that I experienced so much it’s all a blurr now .
Good news is my thumbs are almost back to normal now but my right one still a little sensitive and slightly mad at me :D

I’ve also been looking at videos again. None seem to show that happening. Nick’s review doesn’t show it, either. I’m sure he would have mentioned it if it was happening to him.
I really liked this knife. I hope they get this sorted out because it was in my top 3 of my favorite knives that I have. I’m going to hate to see it go away, but have no other choice.

I felt the same way my friend and also watched Nicks review because if it had that issue he would of mentioned it .

I just spoke to RHK and I'm shipping mine to them for warranty service. They are aware of the problem with some M390 Full Tracks and will
take care of them as they receive them. They said their are no reports of this problem with the normal production Full Tracks. I feel confident it will get well soon and I'll be patient. I know this sucks but it happens.

I'm new to posting here but not new to knives. Not sure if I'm posting in the correct spot however I have also had issues unfortunately with lockstick. Had 3 full tracks come through my hands and 2 had to be returned due to lockstick. It was the m390 version. Now Dlt Is awesome and they always make sure their customers are taken care of but yeah it does suck to be super excited about a knife then end up with lockstick hopefully everything gets resolved and some great ones come out

Just opened the box of my new Hinderer Full Track in M390 Spear Point. Great design, feels good in hand, AWESOME FLIPPING ACTION!

Unfortunately there’s terrible lock stick right out of the box. See the video. Sometimes I can get it to unlock with one hand and sometimes it takes two. A couple of times I had trouble with two hands.

I’m so $&?!@#! Tired of buying high end knives and dealing with nasty issues! My Sebenza had even worse lock stick after a few openings. Took almost two months to get it back.

The Hinderer XM-18 at the beginning of the video went back to the factory for detent ball work twice in the first 10 months. Was gone for about 2 months for repair. $34 of shipping out of my pocket and loss of use on top of an already expensive knife.

Now this $600 knife isn’t useable right out of the box! I’m sorry, but EVERY $600 production knife that leaves the factory should be opened and closed a lot of times to ensure smooth and perfect operation. QC before you ship the knives Hinderer!

Now I have to pay to ship this knife back to DLT. I’m officially done with Hinderer and other high end USA manufacturered knives. One bad knife is a fluke. The three most expensive knives I’ve ever purchased...

Your in good hands with DLT that’s for sure but yes it is hard when your excited to get a knife and find out it has issues .
I’m sure DLT will get this minor issue corrected with Hinderer.
BTW Welcome to blade forum the place for Blade Brothers and Sisters to share there love for knives :)

Well, she went back to DLT for a refund. Hinderer was supposed to email me a return ship label today for warranty and it never happened.
That just made the decision easier for me.
I'll buy another exact same model as soon as Hinderer / DLT figure out what the deal is with these.
Bye-bye Full Track, it was painful while it lasted. :(

Wow never seen a knife with lock bar insert stick that bad. I mean like they said it’s only a small number of them with the problem. I would not let this dissuade you from hinderer they are extremely nice knives.

That’s crazy to see that on a hinderer. All my xm18 has been solid and smooth lock up.
I still want to get a. Full track later on

When I called RHK yesterday I was told that the problem seems to be with the M390 run of knives and that they haven't had any CPM-20CV knives come back with this issue. It's a great design and as I said before things happen and I'm positive it will get fixed.

Like I said, I think the tang geometry / grind got botched - makes sense it’d get botched on a certain batch.
Hope they get the new knives out quick. The M390 DLT versions are the only color combos I want.
