UPDATE Hinderer Full Track Lock Stick

Jordan - I happen to be one of your customers who just ordered a Full Track on Monday. It’s in its way, and should arrive tomorrow. I’m hopeful that this issue doesn’t impact my knife, but in the event that it does what can you do for customers like me?

If you have issues with it contact us at info@dlttrading.com and we will get you taken care of. I want to stress that the number of affected units is small, so likely yours will be fine, but if its not just give us a shout.

I don’t know. Maybe it’s just my thumb getting used to it. Thinking about it, can a lock bar really get better over time opening and closing a knife? You can’t say that you didn’t give the knife a chance. You tried it out and it it wasn’t for you.
FWIW, I haven’t used my gen 4 Hinderers for quite a while. I’m guessing for at least a few months. I wanted to do a comparison so I just opened and closed the Full Track five or six times. I then did the same thing with my gen 6 xm-18s and they were clearly much easier. After those, I did it with my gen 4s and they are in a different league. Man, that lock bar is so easy to use. It almost felt spongy to me it was so smooth and easy.
No doubt and after that crowbar of a lockbar when I tried my other knives they felt so good to and my thumbs yelled mercy :)
That was very nice of DLT to pull all the Fulltracks off until it gets resolved as it’ll also save wasted shipping expenses for both party’s .

I’m keeping mine. I was lucky(?) and got one of the good ones. I’m interested to see what the fix for the others is.

This is the Full Track version of the "Me Too Movement ". I'm glad I found this thread because the Full Track I bought 2 weeks ago from a fellow member
had Lock Stick really bad. He purchased it from DLT as well and it was a week old when he sold it to me. I disassembled it and cleaned it up with rubbing alcohol and it helped a bunch. It still sticks to the point my thumb gets raw if I flip it repeatedly but it's not terrible. I also picked up a XM-18 Gen 6 3.5 no Choil and although it's nice doesn't run like a ZT 0562. My 1st impression is Hinderer knives are Picky as hell between the tension of the Pivots , body screws and scale screws to the Lock Stick.

^^ Yeah, I cleaned mine up with alcohol and it seems to help it, then hours later, I pick it up and crazy lock stick again.
Per DLT, I called and spoke to Hinderer support and they are sending me a label to ship the knife to them.
They want to see it - I'll probably get the label tomorrow as they're closed now. I'll keep this thread updated with progress.
I also have noticed sometimes the knife has a later 55-60% lockup vs the nice 40% lockup I'm used to with my ZTs and this new XM-18 I just got.
So them taking material off the tang is not an option.

KVT, Try flipping it hard 10 times in a row , obviously do it in a safe direction but use some wrist so it flips hard.

I did that and it seemed to loosen things up and it falls shut and the lock bar feels better.

^^ Did that about 500 times. Things are nice and loose. Still has lock stick. The degree of lockstick is completely intermittent. Ranges from annoying scrape sound at best to full blown two thumbs+F-bombs to unlock.

Sounds about like mine then.... I think this is a bigger problem than a few isolated knives. Mine also came from DLT

Could it be its the way the knives were tuned or built at hinderer? I mean when the frame lock side is cut on the CNC machine they are flat. Then the guy assembling the knife has to bend the lock bar to set the correct -tension. I think the lock-bar stabilizer could be removed and the lock-bar slightly bent to relieve some of the tension. I know a $600.00 dollar knife should arrive perfect. My large Sebenza was the same way didn't have lock stick but I couldn't unlock the blade but a couple times and my thumb would give out, also it would not flip several different people tried it.
I carried it a couple weeks and it didn't get any better. I got pissed and pushed the lockbar WAY out and wow it was a different knife! It will flip open Zero blade play and will survive a hard spine whack on my boot. It was as if someone had handed me another knife.. I'm sure the knife could be dissembled and adjust the lock bar in small increments and tuned to ones liking, I got extremely lucky that I didn't screw my Sebenza up.

I hate to hear there are a few people experiencing issues with the full tracks ... it is one new design that interests me ...

but I have complete faith in Jordan and DLT that they will take great care of any of their customers that have any issues at all ... they have about set the standard for me in customer service from a dealer.

I'm following the thread because of my interests in the full track.

If DLT would take Full Tracks off their website that tells me they went and tested more than a few they had in stock and found what 4-5 people in these 5 pages have reported is a real problem. I may call Hinderer tomorrow and send mine in for service rather than screwing around trying to get it right.

Just wanted to chime in now that this is getting me curious as I've experienced similar issue.
Been through a few of them. All of them started off with minor to a little stronger lock stick.
A few of them seem to have got broken in.
It appears when lockup is 50% it sticks and does not at 35% or less depending on how hard you flip the blade.

Don’t send Hinderer a email I never got a respond back after telling them about the lockbar issues I was having and that was a week or so ago . My fault for not calling I guess but as mentioned it’s on the way back to DLT.

I use a pencil and just color in the area of the tang of the blade, where the lockbar engages it on my knives that had lock stick. Play with it for a while and it will be hard, to make it stick.
