Useless knives

I will admit, however, that a number of "knives" shown in this enjoyable thread are really "useless". That is even allowing for "de gustibus" (see what I mean about intellect?). ;)

How did we get all bogged down in a useless discussion of the meaning of the word useless?

I mean, yeah, this two pound folding "knife" does have an edge and could cut something (or operate solidly as a paperweight, doorstop, etc.) but let's not let something as silly as that stop us from ridiculing it:

Nah that's a thing of beauty right there. It's as aerodynamic as a good ball, just look at those dimples it will glide through the air like a hot knife through butter. Perfect example of high speed low drag knife if I've ever seen one. Just a knife any self respecting operator would love to have.

Even has a cutout of our flag!

That’s just idiotic.

Wait, I own a Medford Praetorian. Never mind.

I own a Medford Praetorian.

Hey, that's an expensive way to stop a boat from drifting, but it's your money so spend it how you like. :)

My position on goofy/ugly/stupid knives is that people should be free to buy them, and then other people should be free to make fun of the first group of people.

Also, I own and sometimes carry a Medford, FWIW. It's not as stupid er, robust as the Praetorian, but it's fine for my use (primarily smashing watermelons, Gallagher-style).

View attachment 1031432 My original comment was a simple one.It just expressed my point of view on “safe queens” being some what useless IMO.I’m very sorry for hurting anyone’s feelings by saying “use your critical thinking” on something more important in life. I think the fuss and abundance of comments regarding it really says something about some people on this forum. Very petty and some what smug, find something else to talk about.Maybe useless knives? That’s what I originally came to this thread for and got derailed by wanna be moderators that have superiority complexes. Anyway...

Some of these threads remind me that unlike most things in life, we're never going to run out of stupidity.

Heeter, RMK, whoever made this moronic thing you posted, and moreover the simpletons who are buying them, are all examples of the limitless resource that is stupidity. If only there was a way to extract electricity from it or something, the world would be set forever.

The average member of say, Heeter nation, could probably power a small country if we could just convert stupidity to electricity.

Hell, my forum posts alone would probably power a household. ;)
Nah that's not a Heeter evil, It looks way too functional and that knife would fit in your pocket. Heeters look like they are made from stone and discarded bits of cast iron. Yap yap yap, or yaba daba doo < Fred Flintstone reference, for the younger crowd but I digress. I actually am developing some fond feelings for the MOW. I think i'm in need of intervention or have a repressed desire to chop wood with a Err umm Pocket knife.

WT_ Is That? Looks to me like someone took a meat thermometer and skewed a turd! and just when I was gaining some respect for his creations:eek: no not really. Is this Travesty legal to carry anywhere? because it shouldn't be. #Say no to Drugs.

Love all mine. Best cutters I have. Whittling, carving, etc

Here is one with a free hanging hair whittled. Easy to keep sharp. The lock is meant to keep it from closing on my fingers, which it does...it is not a fighting knife. Or a tactical knife....

Probably the most useful knives for actually cutting things I've ever owned.......and I've owned a lot...

At first I thought that opinels were useless and a bit of a joke but after reading so many positive reviews here on the BF I'll have to pick one up and give it a go. Such a large group of faithful followers can't be denied and I plan on doing some whittling on my next camping/fishing trip so which size or model would be best suited for that?

I like Opinels as much as the next guy but I'm not sure I'd take one fishing. Those handles are porous and untreated. :/
