USPS tracking says delivered, but not packaged received???

I work in shipping & recieving and the USPS often declares that a package is delivered when it has reached the final post office destination. I often have to inform upset folks about this when they come looking for their "delivered" parcels... The parcels usually show up the next day and occasionally the second day after the parcels are declared "delivered".
This is the first time that this has happened to me after nearly decade of using USPS. From what I know it is very likely that it is at a neighbor's address. My local courier is typically great, friendly, and reliable. This current courier seems to be a replacement, hopefully temporarily.

Just a question guys. So after my local supervisor contacts the courier responsible for my package what does the courier do? Is he obligated to check a few houses where he potentially misdelivered the box and request if they have it? What my neighbors simply say I don't know(whether lying or not)--is there recourse for me then or am I just out of luck?

I contacted the dealer and the gist of what he said was basically, "I won't leave you hanging." Good CS and a more than necessary offer. Especially for all he knows, I'm lying and indeed receive the package. Not sure if this dealer is a BF dealer, but docsknifeworks are good in my books so far.

Did you get any other mail this day? It is possible that the post man carried your mail to your house, porch, or garage. This has happened to me. UPS and FedEx have done the same thing a time or two and it took a bit of looking to find the package.

This same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago, but I was home when I got the email that it was delivered. I checked my front porch and mailbox several times then called USPS. They contacted the courier, I asked if he was new, they said no he has been with us for 3 years. I said it wasn't delivered and maybe he delivered it to the wrong home. The courier said it was delivered to the right house and that he will come back to make sure.

15 minutes later the package and my mail where quietly placed at my doorstep. Not sure what funny business was going on but something wasn't right. That box had a bark river aurora 3v black n white ebony in it, and a dry box for sharpening in the field. Glad I got it. I'm sure it will work out for you, the wait stinks.

Make sure you check by doors. My postman sometimes leaves packages near front door which I never use. If I didn't know he did that, I wouldn't know to ever go look.

I've checked thoroughly and I know the package isn't anywhere on my property. Best case scenario is that a neighbor has it and returns it on his or her own accord. If not I just will have to wait till Tuesday to call the supervisor and get in contact with the courier.

I've had this happen to me 5 times in recent years where USPS tracking indicated delivered yet I received no package. In each case I filed a report with the USPS as well as left a note for my mail carrier in my mailbox. In 2 cases the package was delivered within 2 days without explanation of what happened. In the other 3 cases the package was delivered to the same wrong address 4 blocks away with a different street name but same numerical address. I know this because he guy that got my packages in error called me each time to let me know he had it and that I could come pick it up. I know I'm fortunate being 5 for 5 in getting my packages and realize that I could easily be 2 out of 5 or even 0 for 5. That guy and his family are getting a gift box for the holidays and I'm not mailing it.

First thing Tuesday call and 1) ask the super to talk to the carrier that scanned it. 2)Request them to search the parcel hamper for your route 3)as well as the left notice parcel shelf.
Good luck

And yeah the wait is killing me. Especially that I can't get any answers until Tuesday. Really upset by the way the local PO treated me. They just picked up and hung up the phone with be not even saying a word 4 times in a row. It took me 30+ minutes just to get a hold of a supervisor who is responsible for the area code adjacent to mine... I don't understand how a label could of been misread either as it's a paypal printed label with what I know to be the correct address.

I've had issues with my local post office over the past year as well. I've had postmen leave pickup slips for signature confirmation packages, when people are home, they just didn't knock. It's funny when you are expecting the package and catch them before they get back in their truck, lol.

What really ticks me off though, is that the post office just around the corner from my house will not do an acceptance scan if you purchase postage from the usps.com website. The manager there told me it is because of the increased amount of packages they get now because of online postage and they can't afford to do it because you get a discount online. To get it scanned at my local post office, you have to pay a fee or print a scan form, even if you are shipping only one package. I have not been able to find any information about this online and the small rural post office by my work didn't know anything about this policy. Seems like my local post office just makes up their own rules. None of the pre-paid packages I have taken there have shown up in the system until it gets to the local distribution hub. If a package "gets lost" before that time, you are SOL, as there is no proof you dropped it off.

I have had more than one package show as delivered when it did not show up till a day or more later. It is frustrating.

I have even had this happen with signature required packages. I used to have to go over and stalk the UPS guy at the store a few blocks away. Often waiting an hour or more till he finished his rounds.

He never even rang the door bell often..........

I just hope after the holiday weekend the courier remembers what he did with the package. The thought of someone keeping and using a GEC that's not theirs makes me cringe.

It's hard not to stress over a missing package, but I've found that right before long weekends package services tend to make more errors. Memorial Day weekend I had USPS scan it as delivered when it showed up at the local post office to be sent out, I got a confirmation text from Amazon and everything, then on the next business day they updated to say it was at the local office waiting for sorting, it still took another day.
Take it easy, enjoy the weekend and try to put it out of your mind until Wednesday, it's hard, but out of your control at this point (I've found whiskey is great for this, ideally a port finish, with a steak).

same thing has happened to me once, tracking showed as delivered but ends up its delivered the next day.
ups drivers are bad about skipping deliveries and putting down no one home, when they run behind.

I have had this happen once. A postman that was filling in on the route had dumped the package back at the local post office. I reported it, they searched, found it and delivered it the next day.

If that were the case I should have received it today. Anyhow I'm hoping if a neighbor has it and I get it back tomorrow as we have a block party. If not, its back to working with USPS and their rude service.

I'm not sure what is up with USPS these days. I'm waiting on a knife also, a Lionsteel PM1 Swiss Police folder, and it should have easily been here Friday. I live near Columbus, in the center of the state, and it was coming from Michigan. Was in the mail Tuesday, and we all know about the dreaded wait time for a knife. I could not wait for Friday to get here!

Instead this time, it didn't come from Michigan to Columbus, it went to Pittsburgh, then to Cincinnati, now it left there and I assume it's going to Columbus, then to my local, then here. So it's made a great big circle around me instead. Mocking me.

At least my local USPS supervisor calls me back, has called me twice with updates. So they all aren't like your local knuckleheads. Hanging up the phone without answering, you need to go see them in person Tuesday morning if you can. I'd be, well, getting someone's attention... at a one step below being a "dick" level. That is unacceptable.

Everyone thinks they are protected by PP goods...This is a good example of how their protection does not work, all they require for the seller is that it says "delivered".

USPS's CS number had called me this morning but I was asleep! Had I known they would call me so early I would have been up earlier. This is strange given that USPS is not open on Labor Day and their live CS support unactive..
