USPS tracking says delivered, but not packaged received???

New York City. We actually removed boxes from some locations. One in our area had a bag of garbage in it every morning. One in a train station downtown had used syringes.

Don't just sit and wait for them. Go down there. They will do nothing without a little pressure. This isn't about starting arguments. This is about them not delivering your package even though they said they did.

I complained once about the practices of my local delivery man. He's a real piece of work. He didn't delivery four packages in a row, rather the tracking said out for delivery then available for pick at the PO. I complained showing tracking evidence of every instance. That was 8 months ago. Hasn't happened since. He is still an a-hole like he was before, but now I get my packages when they are supposed to be delivered.

Sometimes you need to call people out on their poor performance to make them change. Sometimes you need to make a stink to get people off their butts!

Perhaps. I have called the local PO multiple times, and repeatedly talked to one of the supervisors. If I don't get any real answers soon maybe I will go down and ask. A little off topic but just noticed my thread title typo. Should say no package received.

Talked to my local PO today and left a message for the 91007 supervisor. Said PO worker said he will have to check with the courier so I won't get a call until tomorrow. Not holding my breath though. My only concern is that after all this transpired time, the courier still remembers what he did with the package.

Have you ever been on hold for a long time and then transferred around to different people? This is a similar game. The difference is, you can go talk to someone face to face. It is a lot harder for this game to be played face to face. If I were you I would be pissed off and they would have seen me pissed off several times already. Not rude, just make it clear you are not happy and you are not going to give up until somebody actually does something.

This is a bunch of bullshit. If I don't get a call from my area code supervisor tomorrow without any updates or signs of effort I'm going to the post office in person to make a "stink" as many you guys have recommended. I just received this email full of crap...telling me there is nothing that can be done, when in a matter of fact..THEY'VE DONE NOTHING:

Dear Julian,

I regret learning of the inconvenience you have experienced.
The Postal Service is aware of the frustration and disappointment caused when we do not live up to our commitment of safe and reliable mail service.
Reports of mail loss greatly concern us. Regrettably, when such instances are brought to our attention, there is no sure way of determining what may have happened. With the large volume of mail moving through our network each day, it is literally impossible to trace a single piece of regular First-Class Mail. Only Registered Mail, which is accounted for during its entire journey, can be accurately traced.
Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you.

Well the dealer already told you they would make it right. Have them ship it "Signature Confirmation" that will prevent history from repeating itself. Unfortunately, this is what happens (USPS) when we try to do things over the phone or via email. Speaking face to face with a manager is always the best first option, a dying art it seems based on what we keep seeing. I hope things workout.

Yeah I learned my lesson. My first real bad experience with USPS. Seems like they never had the intention to help me out. You guys are right though about talking face to face. Easier to get straight answers and harder to give you the run around. I know email is definitely easy to skirt around with and often doesn't yield serious responses. That's why my conversations with the 91006 supervisor, staff, and the CS support number were all via phone. I thought at least I could get something done contacting them verbally, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I truly admire your patience this far and calmness. But I honestly can't understand why you haven't been to the post office yet. I can understand trying to go with the phone method, but when you tried that they just picked up the phone and hung it up on you repeated times. Right there I would of tried to be there that day.

Yeah I should have. All these verbal agreements and promises were full of crap. The supervisor for the 91006 area code (area code adjacent to mine) seemed fairly reasonable and was always there to answer my calls, but its evident that her sincerity ain't worth a damn. I expected at least to get a response by Wednesday since Tuesday was just after a holiday, but nothing. I don't know why I didn't go to the post office in person on Thursday, but that's my fault. I'll call my post office first thing in the morning and if I don't get any valid update or any evidence of effort, I'll be immediately showing up in person.

You keep trying the same thing expecting a different result. I know it's past morning, but if you have not done so, go in person today. Don't keep putting it off.

Well the PO workers know me by name and address and are well acquainted with my case. The 91007 supervisor for some reason is simply not at the post office. According to the PO worker, the supervisor will not be present on Saturday either, but will be present on Monday. I will be at the PO in person on Monday and will wait for the supervisor and make the biggest "stink" I can. I am not letting this go, until I see this case properly addressed and I am making sure my post office knows this. I was told however that the supervisor is contacting the courier, but for all I know they're lying. At this moment, I don't even care if I even get the package given how much time transpired, but I still want to see my local supervisor try his damnedest otherwise I'll continue to pester my local PO.

Yes, I fear the time that has transpired will very much work against you at this point. That said, it is still good to push them on this. Also, make sure you have filled a complaint online (IE not to the people who have jacked the situation up in the first place).

UPDATE AND RESOLVE:

Mysteriously, the package has shown up in the mail today. I don't know how or why, or if the supervisor did really contact my courier and didn't lie to me, but the fact is I have it! Sending a refund to doc's knifeworks ASAP.

Conga rats on finally getting your knife. So glad it worked out for you. You won't believe this, but the machete I talked about in my previous post arrived today. I purchased it Aug. 14, it said it had been delivered on Aug. 25, and I finally got it today? WTF? :D I guess USPS works in strange and mysterious ways. At least they finally came through for both of us.:cool:
