Vital Gadgets & Gear To Have On You At All Times

I love and appreciate everyone's comments and thoughts. That's what it is all about :-) I'm trying to learn, so everything is welcome! Blessings to you and yours---and of course, thank you so much for taking the time to share.

Always have this SAK on my keys

The ONLY bad thing is that if you have your car key on that chain, it will wear out your ignition switch on your vehicle..happens all the time. The weight of it all is really bad for it. The same is true for people who have tons of keys on one keychain... Unless you just keep your car key on a separate chain. The chain your car key is on should be as light as possible. Aside from all that..very nice! :) And thank you so much for sharing your photo!

When I was 10, I experienced a vehicle breakdown in a mountain pass, during a minor snow storm that was blanketing multiple already existing feet of snow. When I began thinking about the items I carry every day, that memory became my primary filter. My goals are to always be prepared to weather events like that, and to cover common inconveniences.

I find it very easy to keep a lot on body every day, and I add a UTG Tactical Organizer (clone of Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack) to round it out.

On my person:
- personal keys w/paracord fob
- work keys w/ cord fob
- wallet
- iPhone
- Wenger Esquire (small SAK)
- Lionsteel TiSpine
- Glock 19
- Streamlight Microstream
- 5.11 TMT L1
- portable USB charger, lightning cable
- watch
- cord bracelet w/two 6 foot segments

I won't lay out everything in the bag, for the sake of keeping this brief. I will say that it easily covers shelter, hygiene, boo boos, batteries, and a lot more.

Since I've been carrying these types of items, I have yet to run into a situation for which I haven't been prepared. Generally speaking, I'm able to very comfortably confront things.

image.jpgI vary from day to day what carry. It depends on where and what I'm doing and how much weight I wanna carry. The only constant is a 1911 with 8round mag and 1in the chamber and 2 wilson combat 10 round mags in a bladetech holster. But knives and such change I'm at home most of the time right now so I got all my gear at my disposal most of the time.

Hey Lazy Otter..thanks for contributing to this post with great info! It's always good to be prepared for whatever may come our way...that's for sure!

Well I gotta remember as a forum member pointed out not everyone can or wants to carry a firearm so it's definitły a tool not everyone may have or want. I also have a fair amount of knives and I try to use them all but it's hard to get them all into rotation! Right now my Spartan Blades Breed fighter and Sebenza are my go to knives. image.jpgimage.jpg

You keep your AR in your car?

I can tell ya that is a pic from kingdom armories website. I know cuz I've been wanting that ejection port cover but have been slacking on getting it. Thy Will Be Done...is what it reads when it's down. Just a fun fact.

Yes its from Kingdom Armory, I didn't have time to get out of my car and take a picture of mine so I just posted the website pic.

I suppose that the theme of this thread ("should have") calls for specific recommendations. With that in mind, I'll put this out there:

- folding poncho
- space blanket

I keep 1 of each in my bag and 5 of each in my car (passengers are typically my 2 girls or my girlfriend, occasionally all 4 of us).

The idea here is that in a roadside situation or similarly unexpected "night out", these items provide protection from the elements right away, with next to zero space used for storage, and next to zero monetary investment. With those and a lighter, it's very easy to remain warm and reasonably dry.

I don't need a vest, I'm the one with the AR. Mr. "Paranoid nut job."

I would have an AR, but I don't feel like going to prison. If I need firepower, I just need to make a phone call and wait a few minutes... or call 911.

You're right, I just purchased a pocket police officer. If you could just PM me a journal of your daily habits and activities this would be a lot easier. That way I can live just like you do. Anyways, I'm not trying to argue with you. You win.
