You gonna make it to the Bush Bash?

I was supposed to be in Visalia right now for the Hammer In up there, but I screwed up on my days off... so I will definitely (barring another death in the family or another unforeseen event) be there Satruday. I have too much going on to stay but I will come up for the day. I'm trying to get Reuben (bearthedog) to tag along.

I'm rooting for you!

David

Thanks David! I'm putting it in overdrive to try and finish this sucker by Sunday. I'll send you a pic when it's done.

JCavSD/Wildewinds: Do you guys have a problem with my just bringing my knife up with me? It would save me a trip to West Covina to drop it off with Wildewinds

I think the only problem would be that we'll have all the other knives on Friday, which will give us an extra day with them vs. yours.

Eleven down and seven to go! Had a setback and for sure won't be leaving until the evening of the 13th (Thursday), so there's a little more time available.

I posted this on the wrong thread yesterday, still making my way around here ..

Jason, Expect a box sometime around Tuesday ..
And honestly, Go ahead ahead and beat it because I intend to use the MF as much as possible when I get it back .
I am honored to have had a part of the design of this knife due to the strong dialog I've developed with Chris to make it (^;
Many thanks to Gnarly for introducing me to you folks and thanks to all for your patience .
I'm just one guy with not allot of tools, but lots of incentive to make a quality and useful product .
I'm grateful to be a member of this forum ,)

It surely ain't about tooling!

I have less machinery for knifemaking (though I have a lot more for homsechooling!) than I did 2 years ago. So glad I got rid of the buffer! I pretty much use a drill press and belt grinder as my only power tools, with some occasional wood belt sander work on scales. The making is the making, the tools are just fun. But- I think- sometimes deceptive.

Working with multiple materials including; Leather, Wood, Bone, Antler, Kydex, other Polymers, and occasional Metals [I'm not a KnifeMaker], requires a vast array of mostly tiny tools and bits to fit them, add that, materials, and shipping cost - Bamm ! - There's your overhead !
I've had help from very generous forum members; Chris [KFU] and gnarly, to name a few, that have helped me with essentials including tools and materials that I am very greatfull for having lost over 20 grand worth of tools and materials 10 years ago in a fire, thanks guys (^:
I'm slowly building back from the ashes over the last few years having been granted the opportunity to do my work full time by other generous friends .
Now I'm happy to say My "Ladie's Line" is going on display/commission in a very prominent Salon here in Vegas !

I agree with "Just Making", but without something as simple as a having Vise, it makes the difference of doing the work right or not doing it at all .

Thanks so much guys !

GH, you could make something killer with just your hands. Hope I can send you more work soon. Thanks for everything!

Got mine shipped out on Saturday. Almost wish I would have waited .... I didn't get the edge on it that I wanted .. among other details. I'm happy with it for a first knife though.

CB, those blanks look good and Hawks that sheath is sweet!

Here's mine right before I shipped it. I had a lot of fun with it and thanks for letting me enter!

We getting close to a group shot of all the entries?

I've nominated myself as the challenge photographer. I'll take the pics on Friday or Saturday. Post one or two up on Sunday night or Monday. The rest when we've got everything all put together.

I know you all will have a great time of fellowship, food, and knife thrashing at the Fall Bush Bash. Looking forward to reading all the reports/reviews from the necker challenge.

Well I was not able to get the blanks I was working on done (which sucks because I really like them)... I just have too much going on. BUT, I had a plan B because I had a feeling this might happen. This knife I started a year ago and it sat unfinished until now. So this will be my entry. It's not pretty and it's not even remotely close to perfect, in fact it was never meant to be seen by anyone. I made it as a test knife to beat up so I really wasn't paying super close attention to detail. The "dots" on the blade are from me just playing around. I wanted to see if they would add grip to the blade. They don't add much, but kind of look neat. So here it is, crappy pics and all. ( I think this would technically my fourth knife finished, first attempt at a zero bevel convex, and second kydex sheath)

I had some setbacks but mostly due to a late start and my car crapping out on me this last week. Gonna finish this out any way even though I missed the deadline. Good luck to everone that entered and I'm sorry that I couldn't get my entry done in time. Here's where mine left off at. Just needed a sheath and minor finish work. 3v @ 61 with low temper, orange liners and neoprene scales, 4.2 oz without sharpening and at 98% complete (not to mention an aggrevating flaw ). Good luck guys!
