That's the best way to do it, too. Definitely with a rock. Wood isn't hard enough for that kind of work. :D

Wow, some REALLY REALLY good entries. I'm feeling challenged.


Sheaths are still in progress because I had some family issues today, but they are just soaking in dye and oil and stuff right now. I can ship in the AM

I'm down to these puppies, and I'll end up deciding tonight once I mess around a bit more: (the full gallery is in my subforum, this is teasers for the contest)

Beautiful set up, Zanderman. Sheath is simple and high quality. Do you do your own leatherwork?
 
BMK, yes I do all of the leather work myself. Sometimes I loathe leatherwork: I preffer grinding on something. Thank you.
 
I apologize, but i am afraid i will have to drop. At best i can have my knife shipped tomorrow and it would not be received in time. I had issues with the scales twice. I apologize for any inconvenience and for taking a spot someone else could have had.
 
Yah. If it gets oujt by Saturday am it should be fine. The usps does movement of mail all weekend
 
Ok cool, I will get it out tomorrow then :)....just have been having burlap micarta issues....switching to wood and reshaping...

Guys I'm in the same boat, just got back from a job out of state, thought everything would be together by now but its not,I've been super swamped just playing catchup on other jobs, (thankful to have work) I'm hopeful I can get the sheath done tomorrow night and send it Sat... doubt it would fetch much being traded for a blanket in mexico :D

I feel bad because I really haven't had time to put forth the effort needed to make a quality product, but would feel even worse if I didn't send anything at all... :grumpy:

Yep. Sometimes it is an accomplishment to make a deadline at all. But if you make saturda it should be on time to cali!
 
As of today I have 7 of 18. My plan was to leave town Tuesday evening (11th). I've been given domestic permission to leave Wednesday evening...and if I cry a little, whimper, and get a deep discount on my favorite challenge knife I may be able to squeeze it out to Thursday evening. Grind quickly my friends...I whimper ugly!
 
I hope everyone gets theirs done. I know how it feels ... I'm cuttin' it super close also.

Got the sheath formed today, beeswax and final edge on the blade tomorrow, ship Saturday

You said it!!! Mine still looks like the pictures I posted last week. I have three days off... fingers crossed I can make it happen.
