Warning: Dishonest buyer/seller Morfiuss

Another note to be aware of, and an issue I ran into recently, is that fact that his sales thread states the item will only be insured for $100 and any extra costs the buyer more. It is still the seller's responsibility to get the sold item to the buyer, so only insuring for less the 1/2 of the value of the knife is simply stating that he does not want to pay the extra $$ to fully insure it. This alone would have me skip this thread.

I had a seller claim recently "I boxed it up and did everything that I could to do, if it gets lost then it is not my fault". That item (thankfully) arrived, but in a thin, ripped envelope (which is far from doing "all that [he] was suppose to do", especially for a >$500 knife). Folks, just include the cost of insurance in your asking price (or pay them yourself, since insurance is meant to protect the seller) and avoid the headache of a potentially lost item. Paying with PP G&S and that item does not arrive to me, I am in my right to file that it never arrived, and now the seller is out the item and the payment. So, on such an expensive knife, is it worth losing so much for just a few bucks more of full insurance?

My point I was trying to make ^

I hate to do something like this. As I mentioned, I've never had to do this in dozens of knife sales, purchases, and trades. Sadly, I've seen several people get ripped off by a few bad seeds in the community.

That said, Morfiuss and I have spoken and he has withdrawn the dispute. The Morff 4 I shipped was in brand new condition - never sharpened, never carried, and sat in a padded case the entire time I owned it. What was done to it after the buyer received it is his responsibility and I won't get in the way of him selling it as long as the transaction is not being disputed. New buyers can make their own decision regarding the condition of the knife. I'll remove my response from his sale post. I apologize for breaking any rules of the forum. That was not my intent.

^ You shouldn't feel bad at all, for reporting very shady individual. I for one, am very grateful that you took the time to join BladeForums, start this thread, & prevent further victims to this member's highly unethical behavior.
Thank you!

No explanation provided. He was upset that I posted this online, but that was his only complaint. That says a lot.

I don't know him and he may be a good person in a bad situation, but the way he chose to handle this was entirely too sketchy. I am disappointed that I had to experience this, but it could have been worse. Sadly, I know of people that have lost very expensive knives to scenarios like this. Also, if I had received a damaged knife, I would have immediately contacted the seller and promptly repackaged it for return. I would not have taken the time to sharpen it, post pics of it on IG (without any mention of damage - just showing off a new knife), and then post it for sale on a different outlet (here, rather than IG) after filing a dispute.

Now that the dispute is closed, I'm ready to put this behind me. I'd much rather talk about knives than sketchy transactions. :)

^ This speaks volumes, regarding this person's very poor character. Just as bad, is this person's adamancy, of only accepting payment via PayPal's Friend's & Family/Gift option. :thumbdn:

If you, or the other buyer here, were report this person's sales terms (F&F only), I'm quite certain, that PayPal will take appropriate action, especially in thee event if he were to ever do this again! PayPal will, suspend or terminate a person's account for violating their terms in this manner!

Report him to PayPal!

Edit:
On an unrelated note, I'm happy to finally be on bladeforums! Sorry I had to meet everyone under these conditions. I'm a knife and gun collector born and raised in Oklahoma. I love the outdoors (hunting, fishing, camping, hiking) and have a small metal shop where I'm slowly learning how to make knives. I develop software for a living, but love creating things with my hands, too.

Thanks to every one for the support today and it's nice to "meet" you all.

^ Thank you, for looking out for your fellow knife enthusiast! BladeForums, will be a much better place, having one more extremely honest, highly ethical member aboard! Good luck!

Morfiuss requested that I pay with Friends and Family option, which I never do!..... So I sent payment Goods and Services and I added 3.5% for the fees, he messaged me back saying that he only takes payment friends and family...... I thought something was fishy!............

Very bad juju here.....

99.5% of folks on here are good people . It's worth it IMHO to get the membership and do your selling on here, buying is free IIRC.

These forums are really good at pointing out who to deal with and who to avoid and shady people get outed fairly quickly .

You were justified in everything you did no need to feel any other kind of way about it . You possibly helped other folks or no you did help other folks from being scammed too.

Good advice to be careful. If the seller says he's not responsible for delivery and you go ahead any buy, you have agreed that risk of loss passes to you on shipping, contrary to the law otherwise.

Why anyone would deal with such a seller is beyond me. The seller packs the item and picks the shipper. He should bear the risk and, as pointed out, can insure himself against loss.

Thanks to the OP for the heads up.

Dude in Finland mailed me a knife in a regular, white paper business envelope - not even tapping the flap. The envelope arrived, but not the knife. He told me it was tough luck. I cancelled payment. Very, very few sellers I have dealt with are like that, but I am careful who I deal with. Never a problem here at BF.

morfiuss guy saying i only take friends and family paypal says a whole lot, plus his avoiding the question and making a politician like statement. also he has zero posts outside of this thread and outside of buying, trading and selling. all says a whole bunch of what you got going on here. i'd avoid.

He actively tried to avoid PayPal fees by only accepting F&F, and then refused to take a payment via regular PayPal even with the 3.5% added on top of it. If a person is simply trying to maximize their profit (which is scummy in itself), then 3.5% added will be no different than F&F. Clearly this individual wanted F&F only because he's trying to do something scummy, which works out perfectly for him since there are absolutely no buyer protections with F&F. He should be banned from the forum for attempting to cheat PayPal and scam other users. It's clear as day what he's trying to accomplish.

Thanks, Spartan00. I agree that most of the people in the knife community are good people. I've been very involved with the community via Instagram and have always had a good experience. The community protects its own as long as they are honest and trustworthy. Glad to be a part of the bladeforum community now and hope that I never have to post something like this again.

This. When it's no longer about "just the money" it certainly looks this way.

I'd be interested to know what criteria are applied in deciding when behavior is sufficient to justify a banning. This guy apparently filed a fraudulent (or, at a minimum, admittedly frivolous) PP claim; attempted to sell a knife while it was the subject of a PP dispute, and demands payment by PP F&F only. I'm not suggesting whether he should or shouldn't be banned, just wondering what the criteria are.

The reason i ask is that it is common (and understandable) for folks in these kinds of threads to call for a banning of the miscreant.

BladeForums needs to wake up and not allow Friends & Family payments to be used on this site

I'm really surprised that he got any bites at all with the stipulations in the sales thread.
F&F only and that statement about shipping. Are you kidding?
Can you say RED FLAG????

Yeah, this is the one that hit my juju bone. Won't take G&S even with fee's added. As if the OP's warning wasn't enough, it was this one that should be the final nail in the coffin. He's making it clear that he wants the buyer to have absolutely zero options for future shenanigans. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Welcome to the forums Okie. I saw that CKF Morff last night and wanted to buy it, am glad I decided to sleep on it. The F&F requirement was a red alert in my mind.

You're overpaying if you sent 3.5%. Paypal takes 2.9% + $0.30 for USD transactions. I can't wait for the day when BF restricts F/F and added Paypal fees with goods option.

I saw that too Joe. So the buyer actually over paid on the fees and the seller still wouldn't accept G&S???
I'm sensing major tomfoolery here! I can see getting the packag and opening it up to find a rock in there.
Ignore.
