Did you ship it Express Mail?
The only way to track a package internationally is via Express Mail, if using USPS.
If you're using only the Customs Number to track it, it more then likely won't show up as delivered.
There has been only two countries that I personally have seen the Custom Forms Number actually provide a "Delivered" status. Peru & China

Also, shipping a package with insurance on it isn't always possible, the option just isn't there.
On top of that there are also Custom Duties/Fees that the individual receiving the package may have to pay.
I've heard that these duties/fees can be pretty high on high value/delcared items.

I shipped it first class by mistake. First class mail is still trackable with the numbers located on top of the customs form. I do realize the I made a huge error by not insuring the knife.

No. If the parties agree that risk of loss passes on shipment, risk of loss passes on shipment under the Uniform Commercial Code as enacted in all fifty states.

I agreed with you about this knife, and I TOLD YOU AT LEAST THREE TIMES BEFORE SHIPMENT, THAT I WANT ONLY USPS EXPRESS MAIL INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENT! Isn't it?
You wrote me that it's expensive service, and I should pay you additional $40 for shipment, isn't it? I have all your emails, and can prove my words for any person any time. I paid you your many with this additional $40 and told you again - USPS Express mail service only!
You told me that ok - and in five days I received from you email, where I saw, that you ship it in just envelope without any service! It's impossible!!!!!
HOW MANY TIMES I TOLD YOU - USPS EXPRESS MAIL ONLY, I paid you additional money for normal shipment service - and what? I waited for packet more than three weeks - and nothing! I can't imagine - how normal guy can ship so expensive thing in just envelope without any service???

I paid from both forums more than ten knives, all guys with who we made deals can confirm my words - I always insist on good USPS Express service and paying for it my money.
Why you didn't ship it by normal service which I want and for which I paid - I don't know, I think you are just burglar, and never ship to me any packet! You never gave me number of this knife, or any photo - I just trusted you and bought. I think you didn't have that knife at all and make this shipment only for stealing my money!

and you wonder why I do not do paypal for anything. I have seen a lot of knifes here but the person states in there add paypal only. I have heard of a site called paypalsucks.com and people have told me it is nothing but stories on how paypal ripe them off.
 
paypal is just as bad as fleabay when it comes to people getting ripped off. they make it easy for a thief to steal yet hard for an honest person to get their money from the thief. all they care about is getting their share of the money.

Since both parties agree to PayPal's terms and conditions upon the use of their service, and those terms do not allow for the passing of risk of loss, your point (as it relates to PayPal and their obligations, which is all I was referring to) is moot.

I suppose you could try to get in writing from PayPal a waiver of some kind to exclude a particular transaction from the standing agreement. My sense is they would decline to acquiesce to such a request as they have refused my requests for exceptions to various requirements many times.
For example, the biggest one I have a problem with is if someone pays me with PayPal and picks up their purchase from me in person, I can't prove, to the satisfaction of my agreement with PayPal, that they ever got it. Even if I have a picture of them signing a receipt in my warehouse, a copy of their drivers license, and a DNA sample I fail to meet the requirements of PayPal. You have to ship to the address they give you, and prove it was delivered with a signature on purchases over $250. That is the requirement, nothing else is relevant to PayPal.
As a result, if you want to pick up your purchase from me in person, I do not accept PayPal as a form of payment.

Now it sounds like the parties did enter into contract (exclusive of their arrangement with PayPAl) that the risk of loss would pass from gosh, to SAVIC. With documents that establish SAVIC's willingness and agreement to accept the risk, gosh might be able to get a judgement against him if there is such a provision in international trade law, and if he could get him into court. My guess is he would spend more than $1000 pursuing it.

I have moved ALLOT of money through PayPal in the last 6 years or so (I have 2900 feedbacks on eBay with an average sale price north of $500), and although many have tried to cheat me, I can only remember one who succeeded and it was because I didn't cover my own ass.

Don't assume anything, trust no one, follow the rules, and you will not lose a dime with PayPal.

Did the buyer ask you to ship using Express Mail International Insured? Did the buyer pay you an additional $40-00 to cover this service?
 
See how messy this is getting?

Here are the lessons, regardless of how this turns out.

Buyers: Pay with PayPal, do NOT use that personal option, and relax. You will get the package, or you will ultimately get your money back, all of it.
Now, if the contents of the package turn out to be not what you were expecting, that's another story.

Sellers: If you accept PayPal, cover your butt! If the package doesn't make it to the buyer, or more to the point you can't prove it, you will ultimately be refunding the purchase, all of it.
If that doesn't sound good, or fair, or just, or whatever to you, don't use PayPal.


If gosh would have just insured himself against loss, as SaviC did by paying with PayPal, this would not be an issue at all.
 
Post 25 has remained un-answered...It is significant.

However, things CAN & DO get held up in Customs for no reason. Here in Finland, I had a knife stay at the Customs for 4 months because the idiots forgot to inform me about it...!! Without their official slip I couldn't recover it. Only came to light when I went to pick up another package. Perhaps Balisongs are illegal in Ukraine? That could be a reason for delay.

Gosh, you can redact your address. The easiest way is to cover it with a bit of paper or index card and scan or photograph the postal form again. Then you can post it.
 
Savic AKA Andrey, you are so full of shit!!. Why dont you post what BS you supposedly have. I have Proof of shipping as well as your agreement to relinquish any responsibility if the knife gets lost or seized by customs which might even be the case. Did you not agree to this? Are you saying that its because First class mail was used so the package got lost? I will gladly post the photo and your address as well as my shipping information in order to make a point. I believe some of the members have read and seen the photos which you claimed never to receive. Why would you ask me to ship the knife and call it a camping tool? Are you doing something wrong by purchasing this item? Am I to be responsible. Read my feedbacks I'm sure anyone of them could verify my legitimacy. To have to charges reversed is ridiculous. I mailed out the knife on November 15th and provided you with all the necessary information. Andrey who the hell are you to demand things. The Claim to paypal's been filed. I will be contacting Ukraine's Customs today. Giving them your name and address, just in case they find your knife. As well as your local authorities. Your word is garbage, you are a crook. Anyone interested in emails regarding this matter feels free to contact me at Giarsun@gmail.com . I snapped photos of the package at the post office with Andreys full name and address as well as the official postal stamp and date which photos to this date claims that he has not received. I also have a list of emails concerning this matter as well a purchasing disclosure". Argghhh. Please don't let this guy swindle you as well.
 
In regards to post #25. Yes I did send it first class by mistake and you and I resolved that issue. I offered to refund your money plus some after doing so did I not? Are you just using this as a excuse? You still claim that you have not seen any photos? PHOTOS REMOVED

Can you post the picture of the package prior to mailing?

Hi!
Shipment to Ukraine. USPS Express mail international is very quick and tracking number fully traced - that's why I use only this service when I buy quite expensive knives from US guys.
Earlier I've bought from bladeforums guys some balis Benchmades and Daltons, and autos like Vallottons and Microtech Marfions without problems - I think with your knife should be all right in way too.
Only two very important rules for USPS Express mail shipment for normal custom clearance in my country - you should write in custom declaration value $100 and in description "camping tool" - and with these rules I should receive it without problems.
Please, confirm, and I will pay this $1040 to your PP account.

Hi,

I just got back from the post office. Shipping to Russia first class mail is about $12 if you want express mail international with tracking info. it starts at $40 for 3-5 days, and 1-3 days is is $120. I figured Ukraine rates would be similar. I'd suggest the $40 since a few days isn't a big deal. Your total is now $1060. As for camping tool and value, I'll have that taken care of. If customs seizes the package, or it gets lost in the mail, you are 100% responsible, and no refund will be given. If you agree please make the payment, and I'll send out your knife tomorrow. Esav, Yes he did ask it to be shipped express. I made a mistake and accidentally shipped the package first class. I offered to send Andrey all of the money used for shipping as well as some extra. I even went back to post office once I realized it was shipped First Class. Andrey seemed to be understanding at the time.
 
Ive found that first class international is about as fast as priority.Both get stuffed in an airplane.But i will never again ship 1st class or priority overseas with buyers unknown to me (unless gift option is used)Paypal cares nothing about you having shipped it.Only proof the buyer received it.The customs number is worthless.I think the knife may still make it.As said before,sometimes things get set aside.NEVER ship int. unless Express and insured is my new motto.Hopefully the blade will turn up and SAVIC will do the right thing by you.I havent looked at his feedback ,but i doubt he's a scammer since he's here giving his side.
