Watch for me on Forged in Fire...

Great work Salem!

Pretty ballsy to go for a twisted Damascus in a chopper type knife

That kopesh turned out awesome- not sure the guy wielding the blades would win many cutting competitions...but that's TV:D

Congrats Salem , that was the best looking blade on the show so far IMO.

Great to watch you work Salem

Congrats!

Congratulations Salem! I liked at the beginning of the show when you said it was improbable that you would win.........apparently you haven't seen your work.LOL. Both of your blades were 2 of the best I've seen on the show thus far.

Just watched this. Awesome work. Congratulations! Best knife by far, do you get to keep it or does it stay with them?

Salem there was never any doubt in my mind. I knew you would win. This makes me want to cut some stuff with my knife from you.

On another note, I can't believe that you finished that Kopesh in only 5 days. Incredible work!

Yeah, the bone chop was no joke. We were getting hit by shards of it, and it was loud too. The khopesh is directly descended from a mesopotamian weapon called the "epsilon axe" so we built them to chop.

Thanks for the congrats, all!

That makes sense then , that the kopesh is more axe like than a thinner blade sword . Interesting weapon that was shown to thrust well , hook , slash, chop and yet not too heavy , very versatile .

That your blade stood up to the bone chop so well is most impressive , you make a strong blade with correct edge geometry

Just watched on the dvr, great job boss. I absolutely loves the kopis. That thing was a slicing machine.

'Grats on winning a great episode!

As a follow-up to my previous congratulatory post...

... I finally watched the episode (to date, the only episode I've seen), and you EARNED that win. No offense to the other contestants, but from beginning to end, you nailed design, planning and execution. It could just be TV drama, but it definitely looks like you cut it close with the HT on your chopper  ... but it was obvious throughout the show that you put a ton of attention into geometry and making sure that things were sharp.

I can't imagine that you got much sleep during those five days in your shop. Given the physical size of the project, the decision to go with Damascus, the fullers, and the clean fit/finish; I'm guessing that you didn't have much down time at all. ;)

I think that your fan-club may be in the market for some new real estate, as I'm guessing that they just outgrew the old clubhouse. :D

Pretty ballsy to go with a damascus blade of that size and configuration considering the time constraints!
Great job all around. Broke my heart to see the one contestant attempting to forge his cable without welding or wiring the ends first! Guess he had blinders on and couldn't see what the other guys were ALL doing.

I finally got a chance to watch this episode on the DVR. Nice job Salem. That final project looked absolutely amazing.
