We need to come up with more extreme contests

I guess what we need to do is work out a Gear list of sorts ,My RC6 is in a Spec-ops Survival sheath and in the pocket is a LED light SAK Farmers,Firesteel, Fishing kit, small Bic,and small package of matches & sharpening rod,That is pretty small kit

Ok, we will make this simple. Whatever you can fit inside a standard Altoid's tin can be your kit (and the lid still close and stay closed). Nothing else in your pockets. Standard clothes that you would normally wear for the season. One knife or other cutting edge. Nada mas.

Everyone will have to post a pic of their kit and give us a firm date on when they will take their trip. We will set up a poll after all the participants have posted their pics and notes.

Does NOT have to be a RAT knife.

:D:D:D:D:D:D
I am extremely excited about this, thank you and I can’t wait to get a final on the rules. I am in for sure.

But why would you want to use any other kind? I'm pretty confident I could make it without anything but some cord (even my shoelace would be fine) and my RC-6--in my neck of the woods at this time of the year at least. :)

In terms of the survival thing...I could only do two days due to my work schedule, unfortunately, so I guess that puts me out of the running anyhow.

So we have the River Rat and the Crowdog in for sure on this. Any other posters with animal names that want to participate? :D

For those that are going to enter, this has to be a solitary thing. No helpers. So, make sure you understand how to use your timer on your cameras so you can set them up to take pics of yourself working.

Les Stroud does his own camera work, I figure RAT users are smart enough to do the same ;)

I just want to be sure that safety is also part of the plan : May a First Aid Kit be taken but not used unless needed, thereby marking the end of the adventure for the contestant.

Also I think a recipient of some sort for water shall be available for the contestant, Water Bottle, canteen, ....

Extra camera batteries are cool and can even be used to start fires if need be. Cell phone and/or PLB is cool for last-ditch emergencies. No water bottle or water container. We're trying to make it too easy. Fold a ziploc bag up in your Altoids tin if you need a container.

Why not make one with your RC-6? It'd make a good first project out the gate while you still have energy. :)

It just caught my mind that the altoid box is a water recipient (for boiling not carrying)

I guess someone needs to cross-post this in the Wilderness section so those guys can have a shot as well.

Jeff!!!! I was actually thinking about this last night!!! A few days in the woods with bare minimum stuff would make a great contest!! I will definitely do this. I'll post a pic of the stuff later.

^ You seemed to have missed my previous post, in it I briefly explained that I am ineligible for a lot of these contests that look genuinely interesting and are something that I would be more than happy to participate in; although rather unfortunately I do not own a RAT knife, only a CRKT m-16 and a broken CRKT 10kz that was given to me. I do plan on buying an RC-3, that future has just not been made yet.:D

Where you at, Crowdog? I'll send you a Condor machete to use once we get everything squared away on participants, rules, etc.!
