We, the People, hereby request......

Thanks for the welcome......If this ever happens I will be buying a few

One of the problems with this one was timing. Entirely my fault. If I had of shown it a month or so earlier, or waited till after Blade, we might have gotten a response.

As it was, I showed it while Ethan was on vacation, and just before Blade. Preparations for Blade take a lot of work, and both Ethan and Toooj (at KA-BAR) were pretty busy.

Blade ends this Sunday, and it'll take awhile after Blade for things to settle down. Once they do though, maybe we'll hear something. Then again, maybe we won't. Ya just never know about these things.:D

I request a FAT BK9 (.25 inch + thickness) as a special edition !

You're not the first to ask for this, but it's something I can't even comment on. You'd have to take it up with Ethan after Blade settles down.

You do realize, of course, that it would also require a special run of sheaths, etc., too?

I have my KA-BAR BK-2 in a KA-BAR BK-7 sheath and it fits perfectly. (It did NOT fit into a Camillus BK-10 sheath.)

There's so much more involved in this than people would think, but it's not my place to talk about it, really. Like any manufacturer, KA-BAR has to weigh a lot of things when thinking of something like this, such as how much demand is there vs expected sales, etc. They have to ask themselves "hey, is this really worth doing?"

Like I said earlier, you'd have to take it up with Ethan.

I agree completely. I have decided to pick up a 9, but I'm looking for a Camillus because of the thicker blade. But I am VERY certain there is a darn good reason KA-BAR made the blade thinner. Like how I prefer a Cordura sheath with my BK-2, but I am probably with a very low percentage of the population that like it like that, and it's all about numbers. You don't design, prototype, tool up and build a knife to sell 100 or even 1000 copies.

You're right — it's about the numbers: it has to be. There are a lot of us who would like to see my folder produced, but, realistically, it's about the numbers: is there enough demand to sell enough to make it profitable? Same way with a quarter inch thick BK-9: is there enough demand to sell enough to make it profitable?

There are things that we'd all like to see, but could KA-BAR stay in business if they indulged all our fantasies? I don't think so.

No, but it'd be a HELLUVA lotta fun till the money ran out!!!:thumbup:

but.... for the record Ethan & Paul, count me in for two or three if you make them.

I prefer my old Camillus BK9,with its .210" thick blade.I have'nt tried the Kabar version with its .188" thick blade,Because,I like my choppers a little more robust.I really think a .250" version would sell like hotcakes ! I would snap one up !

I think blade is over now!!! :D

If we haven't heard anything from Ethan by Monday (a week after Blade), I'll contact him. Actually, I expected him to check in by now. He's usually more on top of things than this, so I assume he's been really busy.

Even if I contact him, it doesn't mean that he'll be ready to tell us anything, or that the folder will be produced.

Sweet! Thanks for all the effort you have put into this!

It's Bumpday again.

I don't know why I keep bumping this thread. Maybe it's some kind of OCD, or something.:D
